Strymon Iridium?

Hi All,
I'm thinking about going to an amp-less set up just for some basic recording and silent playing. I'm wondering if anyone owns or has tried the Strymon Iridium and can share some thoughts on it? I'm playing quiet, mostly clean atmospheric indie type stuff. Thanks!

Torpedo wall of sound is awfully good if you are recording.

Thanks! I'm super new to the whole amp-less scene, so I'll gladly check out your recommendation!

Shift line cab zone le is $80 and comes with 10 pre loaded ir’s. I use it and just love it so much.

Agreed! I haven't tried any hardware cab sims but this is a great one for recording

I had a quick listen, and it seemed like a primarily high gain thing. I'm playing very clean most of the time. I only really checked out two videos, so maybe I'm mistaken?

I bought one that's on its way, and also mostly play clean. I'll report back. o7

I ended up picking up a Strymon iridium, going to play it for the next few evenings to decide whether I’ll keep it or not. Initial tests thru headphones sound pretty good.

I still want the iridium, so let me know. I'm hoping it will eventually drop in price.

First thoughts are that it sounds pretty damn good thru headphones. I was less impressed with it thru a powered cab at the music store, but also hate playing in music stores, so wouldn’t have taken as much time to tweak and dial it in properly. If I can get it to sound as good thru my audio interface as it does in headphones, it serves my purpose well, which is just silent playing and some recording. I’d suggest finding a shop that has one and spending some time with it if you can.

Heard a friend use one of these in a live setting two times last week and it was amazing. Single-handedly replaced a Vox AC30 and Twin.

Ultimately, I ended up returning the iridium as it wasn’t the right solution for me. It’s a great pedal, sounds amazing and I can see it being perfect for some. I felt for myself, being just a hobbyist player, never playing live and realistically I’ll likely be the only one who ever hears the stuff i’m recording I felt like it was a bit of overkill to have a $500+ (cad) pedal to emulate a tube amp sound. Plugins are probably fine for me for the time being.

I tried the Iridium last weekend. Sounded very good but they rushed this pedal out. There are some *very important things to point out...
What's the point of cabsim without DI outs and no FX loop?
If you use headphones, you will not hear your effects. It will not give you effects after it. REALLY stupid.
Let's say you want to go FOH in stereo you'll neef 2 DI boxes..again, STUPID. I'm referring to using stereo effects.
The iridium has 2 outputs ..no send
So..your delay has to have 2 inputs to take advantage of that. Only the Timeline and a few others will work.
My suggestion?.... This:
https://www.simplifieramp.com
And yes...there will be a bass version.

Haven't they had proto versions of this box for literally years?

Possibly, I’m not sure on that.
