Wow... well, while this is big news, I have to say that it makes a good degree of sense. As you say, ILF has sort of outgrown it's original roots, and become something different (albeit very much related to the original, in that it's always been about creativity, music, FUZZ and all that good stuff). And it seems like you've been struggling with finding the balance between work, creativity and life for a while now, Devi... so if nothing else, we should be a) thanking you for starting this place that we all love, and b) congratulating you on deciding on the path you want to take.

Hopefully we will see you at least a little around these here parts in the years to come - it would be sad to live on a Devi-less internet. But I've got faith that the core group of freaks and looneys (and I mean that in the best possible way, people    :animal: ) can be trusted to run the asylum as long as you're willing to keep the lights on.

Long live I Love Fuzz!

Devi we all know you've been trying to deal with a shifting balance in your life, and I think alot of us have known for a while that your diminishing presence on ILF wasn't a coincidence, Devi has a life outside the internet now (it's what most of us have been telling you to do for who knows how long now) and it's a good thing.
it's not like the reason we're here is changing, I was never on here to talk to the creator of DE:FX I was here to talk about DE:FX, and then when it evolved so did my, and I assume most of our, reasons for being here.
now it's more to talk to folks I like about stuff I like.
Devi your post makes it sound like you feel guilty about something, don't. you shouldn't. if anything you should feel proud that your little beast can live on without you, not to say we don't want a devi presence every once in a while :p

remember back when we had the chat up and you'd pop in at random times, say a few words, then leave?
yeah, I think that's essentially what we'd all hope for.
that and that before you make any drastic DE:FX decisions (like discontinuing the SPAE  ) that you maybe give us a bit of forewarning so your loyal fans and ground floor DE friends can act accordingly (jerk...........)

no but really, I just want backstage passes to any show of yours I go to is all

on that note
ILF is an odd beast, the thing I love about it is that its got this weird almost self-regulating elitism
if someone doesnt fit with us they get ostracized pretty fast and don't usually stick around
IAMILF shirts??

Devi you shouldn't feel bad for saying anything of the sort. Having a life offline is really something that is desirable these days, and if you're doing bandwork it's almost crucial. Getting your shit together is the best thing you can do, and if ILF takes away from that then by all means let yourself free from the proverbial chains of the internet. It'll be sad to see you go, but if that means that the pedal company and the band can take new heights, it is more than worth it. ILF can take care of itself pretty well from what has been seen, and the group of people here are really great. So go on, make smaller news posts or ramble when you need to, but don't let it get in the way of things. :)

ILF seemed like a really nice place when I joined a few months back, and while I may not feel like an integral or liked member of the place, it is still a thriving community that has a lot of great builders, experimentalists, noisemakers, and just fans of the fuzz in it. There have been smaller squabbles, but in the end it seems like everyone gets along with one-another. There have been many successes in the B/S/T area and many a great conversation can be had about Gear, Music, or just General crap. We may not be huge like HCFX, have the elite qualities of TGP, or whatever the heck HM has (what is at HM anyways... never understood what it was), but what we do have is a certain togetherness that keeps this place alive, whether we like it or not. So, long live ILF, and may there be more noise to come.

The day I get my first DE:FX, of course. :p I too know what it's like to have my life swallowed by the internet, and I say break free at any cost! Good luck, Devi, and thanks for all the great stuff. :joy:

Also I would totally buy an ILF shirt. :joy:

I AM I LOVE FUZZ!

I've got a great source for shirts as well, would we be doing it as a membership perk or a fundraiser?

Somebody do one color designs, we'll pick.

We're all I love fuzz.

I have mixed feelings about this. First off I think it's good that you're on the track to doing something really healthy for you(the music) as I know how stressful by comparison the whole pedal business has been at least on the internet side of things. That's mainly HCFX's fault for being full of cocks, though.

It might be a bit selfish of me, but it is kind of sad for one of the few truly innovative pedal builders to take up and leave. Even Zvex's stuff when you look at it is just variations of a theme - mostly making things "stepped" that generally weren't stepped before outside of digitally produced electronic music. The Soda Meiser to me sounds unreal and the bassy scrambling effect is like a whole new kind of distortion.

I wouldn't really put all my eggs in one basket when it comes to the music. I think it's useless to always keep the pedal business as an option to fall back on(there have been some builders that have disappeared and come back) in case the music is slow to go anywhere. Also as far as I can tell in the music business you're going to meet a lot of stressful individuals too.

I don't think there's any need to seperate yourself from ILF "just because". It's not really all that hard to drop in once in a while especially if you're paying the bills. I think maybe you're being a little overly dramatic in order to seperate your life into cleaner "phases".

I don't think anyone has that little free time, so it's all about priorities and how you feel about this place at the end of the day. I would think it'd be sad to abandon some surefire fans to whatever you get up to in the future just because you don't have the time. This is probably the best guitar gear related board I've been on and I think you'll find that wanting to talk about gear is a very cyclical thing(you'll note I disappeared from any discussion for a year or so), as well as being a place you can fall back on where people admire and respect you.

I think that's very important, as it's hard to get admiration and respect in the Myspace scene kid dominated world of music.

I don't think you should feel ILF will fall apart without you either. I think there is something self sufficient going on here and you don't need to stress yourself or worry about how you really feel affecting us. You're not under obligation to be here and you've been (mostly) fairer than most people who run these kinds of boards, so you deserve to take a break or call it quits whenever you want.

I would like to see you come up with a few new $95 pedals before you go, at least, especially with all the ones recently discontinued. I'm sure to get a bit bored of my SM and Aenima sooner or later.
