There is probably a term for this sound, but I don't know what it is. I really like the sound of lo-fi, shitty, blown speaker, dying battery, dying tube, voltage starved, low bias/gated/shitty shitty shit in pedal format. I got this from the Fuck Overdrive, can get it from the Mini, am looking at an NG3-ish pedal from Make Sounds Loudly, but wonder what other tubs of garbage are out there for me to run sounds through? Help me out with naming some similar pedals!

The Demedash 112+ (with pre-gain trimpot dimed) replaced Fuck for me.

TAFM is super flexible for running things through, and can get real gated.

SSBS Hawk is super gnarly but obviously hard to catch.

Maybe also look at Mattoverse Air Trash?

EAE Dude Incredible (aka Electrofoods Kerria Lacca, aka Fuzzrocious Wicked Jawn) can get pretty crazy too.

I had a TAFM at one point, but just wasn't using it enough. Same with the Fuck. Kept the mini, and love dialing down the bias for some broken speaker-ish sounds.

Alchemy Audio also makes the Dead Bat dying battery simulator, which I think basically starves any pedal of voltage.

I got some cool sputtery tones out of the DOD Carcosa too.

Got it. So you're mostly looking for starved sputtery gated fuzz sounds, which I'd consider different than broken signal cutting out sounds like the Fuck. The Mini vs the Fuck is probably the best example of one vs the other.

The White Atom fuzz is great for sputtery stuff and super easy to dial in.

My Carcosa has been lent out for so long I can barely remember what it sounds like lol...

The Stomping Stone Virus sounds real crazy and I want one.

I’m interested in any and all of those sounds. I wasn’t sure how to categorize them. I think maybe I’m most fond of that broken cable/blown speaker kind of sound, but as far as things like fuzzes go i’ve Only ever really like shitty, gated, sputtery sounds.

Guitar, bass, Microgranny sampler, Teenage engineering drum machine, cell phone, vocals, etc. Basically anything.
Mostly guitar.

No lie, Zoom MS-50G updated can do this in a hundred different flavors. 'Dirty Gate' in front of any dirt model (I like the tonebender) and you're golden.

Lol, shameless plug, but I agree that's one beast of a fuzz that everyone should try if they can't get their hands on a Trombetta.

Shameless self plug here! Dropping the voltage is going to get you the dying sound. Mode four is perfect for synth.

I’ll add Zoom Ultra Fuzz. Lots of excellent brokenness in there. The HEQ-1 can do broken, too, but I’m not specifically vibing that for the initial post, but maybe?

The Zvex Machine can make most gain sources fit this description to some extent. A combo of the abovementioned Alchemy Audio Dead Bat and DOD Boneshaker works, too.
