I took a break for a little over a year too... but I'm going to pretend nothing really happened that year. Here are some cliff notes.
1. Uncle Grandpa renamed as BOB but left the forum.
2. Lots of folks have sold off pedals and gone the Eurorack route
2.B. Yet there is only one thread for it?
3. This thread IS VERY IMPORTANT
viewtopic.php?f=149&t=55999
3.B. You will learn the terms $22, Soy Boy, and Boss Man (there are more Boss Man threads)
4. Comesect 2.0 join in 2016 and got banned for life in 2019 (he had a quote in my sig for a while that I still think is hilarious. I just ran out of room and wanted to put the PINK FLAMINGOS quote)
5. A bunch of drama threads somewhere in the Summer and Fall of 2017. It was just an extension of the news and culture at the time.
6. Arby's is back and it's better than ever.
7. This one is a good time too
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=56194
8. Some of us are borderline sexually attracted to ring mods
9. Chank and Dandolin post a lot of jazz
10. A lot of old posters now how pedal companies sort of (JonnyAngle, DRod, and UglyCasanova [sort of?])
11. Count To Fives (Used to be Goodbye 24) used to sell out, flip at insane prices, but that doesn't happen anymore.
12. Pedal flipping in general got kind of silly for 18 months. It still does, but it does not elicit the same response on a group level.
13. Echorec posts a lot of modern day happenings in the gear world (It's a NAMM thread). Very useful. A bunch of us chime in and talk shit. (This is actually one of my favorite things on the forum... maybe the internet in general)
14. Wittigenstein was also perm banned. He kind of came and went. (I thought he was funny)
15. An ILF Discord was made which diverted a lot of site traffic.
I think that's it?
16. It's worth noting there was a thing about spin chips for a minute I guess.
17. There is an ILF Podcast now, sort of...
18. Eivind completed the Tri-Force of Oscillo Fuzz (THIS WAS HUGE TBH)
19. BILF is a thing
20. People have meet ups
21. If I had to make a hypothesis, as the fake cultural anthropologist, a lot of ILF culture extended to reddit and other forums, and OG ILFers down sized. People don't hype shit as much anymore. It seems like not many count down days to pre-orders. I don't know. (At this point I am generalizing and speculating).
Honestly, there are maybe like 45 active posters here these days... it's actually kind of nice
