I just discovered these guys (late to the game, I know) but jesus goddamn hell I love them. What the hell are they using? Aside from beautiful dissonance and terrible perfection.

I didn't take pictures cause I AM a soy boy. I saw them in June. They use a lot Earthquaker stuff actually. Ethan's amp, was originally some sort of newer SUNN (that doesn't make sense...it wasn't. I found a picture that is not mine. Will post.)... but it stopped working so he took BIG BRAVE's Orange Amp.

Disaster Transport is the one pedal I remember. The bass play and Ethan had it.

It's a Mesa Dual Rectifier. Source http://thesludgelord.blogspot.com/2013/ ... e-man.html
And I googled imaged it. That looks like the one... that didn't work.

They tune to low A and use Mesa kit with a lot of gain.

Just like Korn.

Also, better late than never Adoom. 'Caustic' was my album of the year for 2017. At this point, probably a top 100 for me.

I think it was Goroth or Corey Y that recommended their grindcore project VERMIN WOMB. Also great.

I wish I remembered the pedal board... I was in a weird mood that night and was actually trying to enjoy the music instead of looking at people's geat (WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME!!!!! ). Again, I remember being surprised (in a pleasant way with how many Earthquaker pedals they had.

I love this place.

I literally just discovered them. Hefty tunes.

Thanks for the input everyone. I’m trying to become an active member again so bear with me.

Earthquaker makes sense. I was halfway convinced he was using some Mountainking. I knew Ethan was using Mesa Roadsters. I’m selling a guitar that I am now reconsidering selling because it is a longer scale.

Man I missed this place.

Primitive Man are goddamn great though.

Must check out the other bands. I hear he’s in a few. I watched an interview with him and he’s a teacher! Just like Steve Von Till.

Did anyone see the interview Nate from Cinverge did with Steve Vin Till about his gear?

Ugh, Converge. Sorry. Stupid spelling mistakes.

They were great live and super nice. I don’t think I’ve played that album since I bought it but I would go see them again. They were one of the loudest bands I’ve ever heard. And they blew Bell Witch away. Like how do you follow a set like that? I don’t mind Bell Witch but whoosh, I’ve seen them twice and I’m checked out after that.

Dude I was SO EXCITED to see them the first time they played here - I believe after the first LP. They played a skate park on the half pipe and there was fog and shit and it was fucking hella sick. That first LP (and shit the second too) were pretty great but that third one.... I dunno, and like, I REALLY want to champion the legitimacy of a guy using a 6 string bass, but I have no reason to ever throw on a what.... 80 minute track?

Great players etc. No hate. But they played here with a bunch of other bands recently and I didn’t go. Maybe this is me “pushing 40” but I don’t want to stand completely still watching that complicated pedalboard for an hour!

But fuck it. I’d buy their new record.

Okay this thread has given me the confidence to pull the Caustic LP out of the “maybe discogs” pile. It fuckin’ slaps.

Bruh... yeah... wtf? Was that a question?
I'm worried they're not going to hit another one. 'Caustic' is so perfect. The splits I heard since then are kind of the meh noise/doom thing.
I've said this before, I used to be a huge noise head and still like it... but when people think they're pushing sonic boundaries and it's just white noise... I lose interest.
Caustic does not have one false note/moment though. The live show was perfect too.
