Musicman 150 question...

How much would a recently serviced and perfect Musicman 150 with matching 412 loaded with swamp thangs sell for these days? I’ve seen some stuff on reverb but I’m just wanted to hear from people that know more about this rare setup. Thanks!

I was just wondering because I have a trade offer. The Musicman 150 and matching 4x12 for my Sunn Beta Lead and matching 4x12...

IMO that Musicman rig is a much better setup than a Sunn Beta Lead rig, especially if the 4x12 has new Swamp Thangs (get ready for how backbreakingly heavy that cab will be though). The Musicman has a tube power section which will just feel better to play and it'll take pedals like a champ. Beta Leads are a lot more fashionable but they're not very versatile IMO. Your rig is perhaps worth more to someone who really wants Sunn gear but that Musicman will still hold its value and they are starting to go up a bit.

Thanks for your response!

Does it doom/drone well like the Sunn?

No, it dooms like a musicman [Dry and punchy vs bloomy]
Also.
Doom is in the mind.

The output section of those Musicman amplifiers is interesting. It was designed with clean headroom in mind; one of these days I want to do a similar transistor driven cathode with some 6BQ5/EL84 with sane B+ voltages and see what happens.

My HD130 has the speaker outputs wired in series - I'm pretty sure the 150 has this as well - which means I can hook up two 4 ohm cabs or four 8 ohm cabs (daisy chaining them in pairs).
Using four cabs might help to doom'n'drone.
Otherwise as stated: Musicman amps have a lot of clean headroom and are a perfect pedal plattform. You can also jumper the channels.
