I guess the subject says it all. What’s the cheapest one out there? Cheapest USABLE one?

The Boss DD whatever ones are fine. I’ve been wanting to try the one in the EHX canyon. I don’t know if any of the ones in the cheapo Chinese mini pedals are any good.

I should say I have reverse delays on my DD5, Canyon, and Obscura, and enjoy them all. But none of them sits after my looper. I liked the one on the Flashback, too, but I can’t quite justify yet another hundred bucks plus on a pedal I essentially need for one song...

Digitech Digidelay has good reverse mode, is cheap. I stupidly slept on one recently that went for one MetalZone!

So when you're not using this hypothetical delay after your looper, it won't work with your current setup? If you were willing to rethink this scenario, I'd suggest getting something that deserves to be used for more than one song.

I favor the reverse setting on the V1 Avalanche. On a good day, you could find one for $160-175, but anytime for just under two bills. I would imagine an Avalanche would sit amicably after your looper and your other delays---I use mine with electric piano sounds, when I want something smoother and less invasive.

What about an effects loop/order switcher kinda thing?


The digidelay is good though. Zoom might be an option.

For me, it's the Flashback. Dang good delay otherwise too for the price.

I hear you. Thing is, I'm already running like 5 delays (6 after my Echorec shows up tomorrow) before the looper; I want something specifically to manipulate loops with. So part of my idea is to pick up some cheap FX I can just throw behind it until I eventually get an RC-300 or something. It's only one song that I currently want it for, but I expect that when it's actually on the board, it will get more use... as things do.

And weirdly, I'm not a fan of the Avalanche Run. I've spent maybe half an hour with it in the shop a couple times and I just can't bond with it. It must be me, though, as I love listening to what other people do with them...

Yeah, I really liked my v1. Then the footswitch fell apart and once it was finally repaired I said "to hell with it" and got a Canyon. I miss the stereo jacks and the long delay times of the Flashback, though - I might have to pick another one up...

The DD-7 can be had for around $80 and has one of the best reverse delays I’ve heard. Second only to the Particle.

I love the reverse on my DD-5, and I can’t decide whether I like the idea of having a 3, 5, and 7 on my Jose’s or if I want something non-Boss to change things up. I think the latter, but I’ve definitely been tempted by the 7...

Who makes a thing like this? (other than people with soldering skills?)

I'm aware of the Sound Sculpture Switchblade 8F... but that's a pricey solution.
But it allows crossfades and panning.

If you don't want to build one. Probably other people make them too.

As others have mentioned, a BOSS DD is fairly cheap and does a good reverse. But be aware the reverse on the DD5 has a really unique sound. I'm not sure if it's even a true reverse? And you can't remove the dry signal. But a lot of folks love the sound of it (including me), so I'd recommend checking out some clips to compare it to the more standard DD6/DD7 reverse.

I do love the reverse on my DD-5, as noted, though I had no idea it was different from the DD6/DD7. Interesting...
