What do you guys use to record stuff?

I'd like to record some home demos of me jamming on my own. Nothing fancy.

I'm thinking about buying a 4track tape recorder, but I was wondering if there was some sort of cable which makes it possible to hook my bass up to my computer.

Any thoughts ILF?

I use a Tascam 688 8 track and take the output from that into an A/D interface to put things on the comp.
So I have a very good mixing board with 8 track cassettes, and just use the interface to back up the tapes and burn to cds.

If you just want something simple look into an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MobilePreUSB.html (I've also got one that I'm not using that I would be willing to sell/trade). Or look into similar products by Line 6 such as the POD Studio line-up: http://line6.com/podstudio/

Personally I use a PreSonus Firepod: http://www.presonus.com/products/Detail ... roductId=3

The Firepod has eight inputs which I used to use to record my drum kit (drum kit is currently packed away because I am trying to sell my house).

Hope that helps!
