Another sad day in 2009.
Mary Travers passed away.
Like many of us I grew up listening to her sing with Peter, Paul and Mary.
From the post beatnik folk revival through the civil rights movement and the war protests her voice was always up front.

I heard this earlier today, and I was quite moved.

The first concert I ever saw was Mary Travers in '74. There are pieces of it I remember so clearly. I have listened to her for almost all of my life. There are very few musician/celebrity deaths that have moved me. I'm not a sentimental person, but her death choked me up.

RIP. "Puff the Magic Dragon" is one of my favorite songs ever. i am emcee sadface right now.
