Somebody probably already posted this (sorry, I tried to have a look through the boards first):

What a ridiculous place! :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:
Also, I'm VERY late to the game but ever since I found out about/heard the Memorymoog in the clip all I can think of is how cool it sounds and how much I'd want one. Spent a good few hours watching various Memorymoog vids on YT since then.
Is there anything even slighlty similar available nowadays? Not that I'd afford it, but still.

The Moog One is the first poly-Moog in 30 years. That would be the closest modern equivalent, and it enjoys many advantages over its predecessors. You don’t want a MemoryMoog though. They’re notoriously unstable and need to be retuned constantly. In one of its more infamous moments, a MM crashed on Jarre mid-concert and he couldn’t get it working again. Even if you could cough up $5500-8000 for a clean original, you'd be looking at hundreds per year in maintenance fees.

I've never used Memorymoon, but it's Windows 32-bit VST only. I don't how many tweaks have been made since its 2004 launch, but don't expect something as stable or as refined as Arturia's vintage tributes.

There are some soft synths by XILS, which cover the vintage analog poly sound faithfully. (Poly KB now at version 3.5 & the Poly M) The KB is based on the same rare synth, that the Black Corp Kijimi is based on (with evolving oscillators). The Poly M is based on the PolyMoog, which used octave division to achieve polyphony (like a transistor organ). Not quite a MM, but both of these can do washed-out soundscapes and dark, retro-flavored pads. You can also explore stuff like the various poly-equipped Minimoog apps (just add chorus/delay to fatten them even further) or Arturia's poly-capable Moog modular program.

Cool. I doubt I'll ever have that kind of money to spend anyways.

But what the hell ILF, letting me down here. I thought for sure people were going to go bonkers over the clip and this place. What did I do wrong? :D

I’ve definitely become more of a minimalist with gear. While I’ve spent a lot of time lusting for each of the synths he went over, watching him run frantically from synth to synth also made buying and flipping gear feel so hollow and pointless. It just seems pointless.

Older synths have weird features and routings that make them interesting and unique, but most “modern” synths have roughly the same features and routings. So, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to try and own one for each subtle difference in tone or feature. Owning a warehouse of synths seems cool and all, but it probably feels better listening to a song you’ve written and recorded :idk:

That said, it did make me want to get a Moog Pro One someday to compliment my synth suitcase, and I’ll always want one or two weird Soviet synths that I have no rational reason to want or own.
