Anyone ever return stuff to Guitar Center

I just bought a new Fender there and it "came with a case". as in "fender w/case = $1200". When I got home my receipt said "fender = $1100, case = $100". I didn't want or need a case, and I didn't think I was paying extra for it. The way it was tagged, the guitar was $1200. There was no separate price for a caseless instrument. SO my question to the community is:
since the case was itemized on my receipt, can I return it and get $100 off my purchase?
I called them and the guy said he couldn't give me any returns advice on the phone and that i'd need to bring the case and recept in the store for assessment.
...AAAAND its a long drive to the store so... yeah.
this happen to anyone else?

Hey its probably just the package that was with the guitar. Thats how it was when i bought my Jazz bass I got a soft case that was like 40 bucks or something like that and the price i paid was tag price on the bass. Most times theyll "give you" a case just because your spending so much on the instrument so you might have some trouble getting the money off your total. I had to talk to three different people to get a Jaguar for its ticketed price but thats a whole different GC headache.

Slightly OT, but
someone must have returned a lot of stuff to GC because I've bought a few things that were supposed to be new, but were obviously used.
Maybe it was floor models repackaged? Now I always insist on seeing the item new in the box. Of course it's different when you are buying a guitar off the rack.

I have a feeling that they will treat it like one item for the purposes of the sale they negotiated, ie., you can't return the case...the guitar and case are inseparable b/c they will claim the case has to go with the guitar. Yet, in the sale process you can usually upgrade from a soft to a hard case...so, why the hell can't you return one and not the other.

i worked at GC for a long time as operations manager.
you can take any shit (copyrighted stuff is the exception) back anytime within 30 days, pretty much no questions asked.
unless you obviously fucked with the gear.
feel no remorse, just be cool when they get bummed out b/c that's some commission they are losing (which is not your problem at all...), but they do have a 30 day guarantee.
