DM-2W vs DD-3

Seems to me that besides the obvious analog/digital split, the only big differences are the two modes on the DM-2W (and the EXP option) and the hold function on the DD-3. I realize this is a completely arbitrary and subjective question comparing, if not apples and oranges, Fujis and Galas, but "all other things being equal" which would you choose?

For context - since I guess what I'm really asking is "help me decide whether to replace my MIJ DD-3 with a DM-2W" - I play psychedelic solo guitar stuff, and the DD-3 is only part of the ever-evolving delay section, where it sits in front of an Aria AD-10, Canyon, Rubberneck, DD-5, and Tera Echo. I've plans to incorporate a Disaster Transport of some kind somewhere in there, maybe shifting the Rubberneck out, and am trying to find a balance between "plenty of variety for stacking" and "nonuseful overkill."

Your induglence, consideration, and exploration of this rabbit hole are appreciated in advance!

MIJ DD-3's are my favorite delay pedal, I keep selling my DD-3's and regret it. I'm borrowing a DD-7 and just don't jive with it the same way on guitar. I'd keep the DD-3 as it's plenty capable and will probably stay a little cleaner in the mix when stacking. Also I enjoy it's stutter action and the hold feature.

What exactly makes it your favorite? I'm sentimentally attached to mine, as I think it might the pedal I've owned the longest, but I find I use it the least - mostly because I tend to default to longer delay times and only use the shorter ones for flavor here and there.

Just buy the dm-2w already. What's one more when you already have 6? :hobbes:

Well, yeah. Though it's complicated: trying desperately to stay pedge this year, and the DM-2W is not on the list. It was a trade offer for my Phase 99, and part of my thinking is that if I love it, I can flip the MIJ DD3 to get me somewhere more pedge... funds are limited so I'm pretty much working with trades, which is... limiting...

Feel you. If you were already wanting to off the phase 99, might just be the time to go for it. I don't think the dm-2w is really gonna offer up much more, with what you already have available, but you clearly like delays, and you won't know until you try it!

I'm terrible about getting attached to pedals for the same reason however (stuff I've had forever, some nostalgic thing, or it does something my other gear doesn't...whether I use it or not. I can't explain it  so basically I'm not any better at letting go of stuff, haha. Super helpful, I know.

And then it's like, "but can I get more for the 99 than the DM-2W is worth? What if NOBODY EVER WANTS IT AGAIN?" Ugh. When's that long-lost great-uncle's will going to turn up?

What makes it my favorite? I'd say the sound/functions/ease of use in that order.
