Just got a pc laptop tablet thing and I want to use it as a midi sequencer for my synths. Can this be done? Is there an app or something.
Also what other cool pc apps u all using?

Buy a USB to midi cable. Not the super cheap one, the iconnect one is fine.
Any daw can sequence. Ableton is great. FL studio is great. I think the cheapest version of ableton can have 8 midi tracks.

Alright I’ll check that out, I have a focusrite 1818 that has midi in and out and also comes with some weak version of ableton. I’ll see if that works.

How you you all sync this setup. I currently have a minilogue, pocket operator beats po12 and that pc. I plan on adding a bastl micro granny, po33 ko sampler and eventually another synth for mono bass lines. How would I sync all this? Was thinking a key step so I can also use it for the microgranny. I have no idea what I’m doing with this stuff at all.

Also, any recommendations on a super cheap monosynth?

Also open to suggestions to other samplers and gear that I may need for the setup.

There a good videos for syncing external hardware in Ableton. The pocket operators are different since they need a click track to sync, but there’s also videos for that.

Minilogue doesn’t have a midi thru port, so if you add more synths/etc you will need to add something to allow you to send the midi out of your interface to multiple boxes.

Midi thru is a dark art, and a lot of units don't support it properly.

I see something like a MidiSolutions QuadraThru (or several) in your future.

If you've got anything that uses CV, the Korg SQ-1 is a pretty handy way to get it out of your computer/tablet via USB.

Arturia keystep (to control the granny)
Po33 ko sampler

How can I sync all these?

Will the keystep work with the granny as a keyboard as well as sequencer? Is there something better I should look for?

Any other things I should be looking at besides the granny and po33 for fun sampling that I can also sample live with

Octatrack?
Electribe 2 isn't very fun for spontaneous stuff.
Microgranny and op33 are more auxillary items
Sp404 is overpriced for what it does (in my opinion)
Octatrack would be a good hub and it will be very hard to outgrow. I'm obsessed with mine.

Didn't want to say that because seems out of price OP was considering based on his other options, but yeah, Octatrack is the one for sequencing/sampling

Digitakt is half the price of the Octatrack and is a sort of streamlined model. Doesn't quite have the depth of the Octa, but it still a crazy powerful machine and great and sequencing and sampling. It's great fun straight out of the box with the built in sounds too, before even sampling or hooking it up to the rest of your gear. I spent about 2 months with mine before even getting to sampling or midi sequencing. They are great fun.

OT MK1s can be found for not much more the price of used Digitakts, and since MK1 and MK2 are essentially the same... Still out of the range OP is considering I guess.

2 months seems really excessive for getting to start working on those, I read many horror stories about that before getting mine but it wasn't that bad and manual is unbelievable good


The new Model:Samples at $400 is amazing, maybe OP will stretch his budget and consider that?
