This one... I'm on 4th track and strong contender for AOTY for me
Seems they're fucking more with pedals, heard some ring mods and glitch shit on first 3 tracks.

i heard the first track they released, "Drone Lover," and it's brilliant.
what i'm waiting for:
the much-awaited MBV album, or two EPs, or whatever the fuck it's going to be.
Steve Mason, formerly of the Beta Band, has a new album called "About the Light" out 1/19. the single, "Turning Your Back On Love," is the best thing i've heard from him in ages, and his 3-song live shot on BBC6 is just wonderful. he says he's hoping to tour the US this year, to which i say "WOOP WOOP!"
according to their Twitter account, Gomez are working on a new album which will be their first since 2011.

New Jeromes Dream in a few months? I seriously doubt they'll recapture the magic after 18 years, but I'm (probably) going to give them money for trying.

Worra and I have a split coming out this month? Maybe next month?
New Cosmic Dead should be a banger.

Ah, can't wait for that!!
As much as I love some Grouper, I can't really say I'm excited to hear "new" stuff from her.

There are some groups that will automatically beat this
(although some of my all time favorite artists have disappointed me lately... looking at you GROUPER... I still love you Liz but.. an LP is not 24 minutes.. sorry it's just a fact...)EDIT: I just saw Tremolo's comment on Grouper above

glad I'm not the only one... but seriously Liz... if you would like to marry me... I'm so game.
but I pretty much knew this was my album of the year when it came out
WEYES BLOOD - Titanic Rising
All I have to say about this album... "True love is making a comeback!"

Also, off Sub Pop this year... this is not new material but... man do I LOVE METZ.
Part of music, for me, and I would wager most, is the sentimental nature of it. I like their chunes as is but METZ to me... I feel like I went through my 20s listening to these guys.
METZ - Automat It's really just a collection of B-Sides and re-released early material.

And last comment for today in this thread... I was going to make a comment on "Of course if BURIAL releases something... that will by default be my favorite."
W E L P
Apparently he did in June and no one told me V

I'm shitting my pants guys... so nervous. I hope this is sooooo good. Will post an EDIT.

BURIAL... please don't pull a LUSSURIA (for context, you can search my posts and see how many times I posted about how much I love this one LUSSURIA album... his latest release S U C K E D. Like... it hurt me how invested I was and how lazy and uninspired the album was. Hospital Productions can be so hit or miss... sometimes they write better ad copy than they make albums. I could go on and on of how I was so excited for this release. The concept behind it resonated with me [how his Grandma got sick, supernatural, etc. I still think he's a very talented person but his release this year was such a let down.)

This release keeps throwing me in a slight way because it's "my" METZ, all the songs I remember them playing when I saw them all the time before they got big and grew into venues that are too big for me to be interested in.

Brother, I do share your sentiment. They started when I was 20, and I'm 29 now. I think what makes it a less conflicting feeling for me is... they keep putting out good chunes (I loved the third album), their work ethic is unparalleled, and I'm just happy for their success.
I never got to see them "all the time", I saw them the tour of the first LP. I do have bands like that though where you think, "I remember when they were just kids and people were borderline aggravated they were playing the same venue again." I don't know. I feel for you
But yeah... I probably would not go see them now either. Same with a bunch of straight noise 'bands' I used to see. You go see PRURIENT now, and it's like going to Electric Zoo or some shit.
