Without me posting lately, this might have flown under some radars, but this is potentially AOTY for me. Lots of pedal fun, some keys/synths. Kind of noise rock meets a horror movie soundtrack.

Anyways, I know you guys are all into lo-fi instrumental hip hop or whatever but maybe dos can listen to it just to tell me how bad it is

Hell Songs is where I hopped off the Daughters train.

I saw these guys play a few shows in 2003 or so, and remember them being relatively boring grind stuff. I've been reading a lot about this record recently, though, and was surprised to hear they're still together, and even more surprised to actually enjoy what I'm hearing here. The singer's voice is pretty annoying at times. He just sounds bored, or like he's putting in no effort whatsoever, but the music is interesting enough to overcome that, and sometimes the vocals seem to work anyway. He kind of sounds like a bored version of the singer from A Day in Black & White, from the era after they stopped playing metal.

I agree, I can't deal with the vocals. Needs screeching. It Does sound like A Day in Black & White, I have Notes in my car stereo right now, a record I've found I don't really enjoy. That being said I don't even like the new Daughters sonically (accurate title) but at least they are trying something new. Sounds like a lot of samples.

You guys are a bunch of sillies. This is great.

I like this album a lot

Normally not moved by stuff like this. Don't get me wrong, I fucking love noisy abrasive stuff. But nothing quite like this has ever resonated with me and stuck long after listening. Especially the lyrics juxtaposed against all the sonic craziness.

I mean, I've seriously had the lyrical refrain of Satan in the Wait stuck in my head for weeks now. There something super infectious to the repeated THEIR BODIES, ARE OPEN chant

Not an easy listen but its worth taking the time to dive into it.

Plus Fuzzrocious did a super limited pedal tied to the album, and Fuzzrocious is always cool.

Yeah I've been trying to get people I know to listen to it but nobody but me seems to be enjoying it. My bandmates had a hard time getting into it, and my neighbor who is surprisingly already a fan hasn't gotten a chance to listen yet.

They're playing a couple hours from me in February and you better believe I'll be going.

Ditto, gonna try and catch them once they come thru the area.

Also can't think of anyone I know off board who would like them, except maybe my coworker whos into noise.

The luthier / guitar tech at my local shop just fixed the guitarist from Daughters' Gibson, and gave it a crazy Viking-dragon style headstock. He posted some pix and clips on IG.

Also, I know that most of them aren't in Providence anymore, but still get a tinge of hometown noise pride when I hear about them.

And well said about the album resonating. Part of "good" art is that it taps into whats going on and I feel this album does that.

Satan in the Wait is powerful.

Alexis' lyrics and vocal style is really something.

Agreed. I feel like the whole thing really effectively reflects the general state of unease and panic that most of us live with these days really well.

I can't wait to hear this shit live. Its gonna be powerful.

Definitely a weird set of dudes.

Watched those videos. There are some fucking wild sounds coming out of that.

I enjoyed the record. Definitely going to see them when they come through.
