so uh, i know tuners aren't necessarily the most entertaining thing to talk about
but my polytune just died.
also i'm kind of fed up with tc electronics in general, second pedal of theirs to crap out.

i can't really seem to draw any conclusions from the internet because it varies from, "strobe tuners or gtfo" to "i found a 20$ chinese made tuner on amazon and it works great."

Ears man, ears… Or a TU-2...

The plastic screen on my Polytune popped out once; I was able to pop it back in but figured that was a good time to change to a different one. I got a TU-3 and it's good. I played a weird house show with it and a septuagenarian asked me if the pedal was "tuning instructions." I was like "Yeah." 10/10 would buy again.

Boss is rugged and reliable. Sonic Research tuners are accurate af and look cool. Either are a solid choice.

Some years ago I decided to cough up the money for a sonic research turbo tuner because I found that my tu-2 wasn’t accurate enough for setting intonation. It’s a true strobe tuner, so super accurate, tracks incredibly fast, and has held up for years now without an issue. Shows and touring and all. I used to go on tour a ton with a band I worked for. I did a lot of things for them, but one of them was taking care of the gear and guitars. I would always bring that tuner on tour with me as part of my toolkit. So it’s travelled the world with me and works as well as the day I got it. And I love how fast and accurate it is. It’s only a little more money than the average boss, TC, whatever tuner and we’ll worth it I’d say.

ive had one of these for like 8(?) years and have stomped it mercilessly and it still works great. Under $30 and TRVE BYPA55. It's also got a 9V out so it doesn't take up a spot on my power supply. Otherwise, yeah go with BOSS for the buffer or sonic research for the accuracy.

Yeah I got a 20$ pedal off Amazon and it's fantastic with true bypass.

I got a polytune 3. It's not helpful since you seem to be over the TC stuff but I've been impressed. I had a Korg Pitchblack previously and it was kind of garbage in comparison.

Leaning towards these two I think

I used to have a TU-2 come to think of it and I have no idea where it went

I've got a TU-2 and a Polytune2. Pretty sure the TU-2 is going to be tuning longer than I will.

Haven't had an issue with the TC but I would never hesitate to buy a Boss tuner. They're affordable and reliable and the softswitch is nice for tuning during a quiet space (not a big deal to most probably but I like not having to click a loud switch to tune up).

That's interesting I have a pitchblack and a polytune and I like both. Had the pitch-black for years and I've never had a problem, it's very solid.

I've used boss tuners plenty of times and I like them plenty. Don't think they tend to die on people.

I'm sure plenty of those cheap Chinese ones are good enough though.

Pitch black didn’t seem to catch notes quickly. Made tuning cumbersome.

Contra, an intense dude for sure, told me, quite intensely, that the Turbo Tuner is, in his not very humble opinion, the absolute best tuner out there.

I barely survived.

Polytune is definitely faster yeah. I find the pitchblack acceptably fast but there are better options for that.
