I love reverb tanks. I’ve seen a few different ones on reverb and craigslist so I figure we need a thread.

There are also instances of oil can reverbs if you're looking funky enough. Make sure those work unless you REALLY like deep projects...

Gibson GA-4RE "Reverb Echo" is an example of a simple oil can (no control on sweeping the delay time).

Out of your list I only own a Pioneer reverb (SR-101), a little more on that and other hifi reverbs here: viewtopic.php?f=149&t=57948&p=1247177

I'll say it here again.. (sorry DIY thread dudes) but the Ruthenium reverb is Legit AF.. uses a real spring tank, runs off a 1054 chip and it does exactly what you want a spring reverb to do. Has a tone knob too. So good .. the reverb tank is the exact size of a 1590XX too so it all fits nicely.

That Ruthenium unit does look nice, but there's also something to be said for stupidly large:

Conveniently fitting in 1590xx doesn’t mean it has to. Stuff it in something huge!

That looks really nice! I’ve never built a pedal from scratch, only kits. Is it a tough build?

For some reason, the more inconvenient the package size, the more I like the reverb. I hate to say that i don’t listen with my eyes, but sometimes we do.

is the Spring King not funky enough for you?

Jack, just get a Ventris. It destroys almost everything on the market IMO. Of course, I've never owned a tank and am talking purely out of my ass here.

The dude from shoe pedals worked on the new “true spring” to get the outboard tank algo to sound as close to his personal outboard tank as possible. Might be worth tearing out.

I loved my Ventris until suddenly I didn’t. The reverb on my Rockerverb absolutely crushes it. The only reverb I’ve ever loved is Blackout Cadavernous. But amp verb has been very good to me.

I thought the Ventris introduced a lot of high end. It can be dialed out via Nuero but that’s cubersome. Also, it would drive jack crazy. The high end didn’t jive with my dual rectifier but those have a lot of high end on tap.

The old Premier tanks are pretty popular with surf dudes, although they have a reputation of shocking people. There are also the Supro Magic of Concert Hall Sound and Maestro GA1-RT which are reverb units that work through being driven by another amp, those are kind of unique and rare, I don't know if they even have spring tanks in them?

Those pedal sized units with springs never really sound good because the decay is so short and they never sound very deep, just kind of washy and weird.

The ScreaminFX Uverbia uses a pretty big tank and looks really cool though.

Jack's had a Uverbia, then I had his, then I sold it. LOL
