I'm looking for a small amp to play with headphone (late at night paractice)... is this any good?

Can I plug this directly in my sound card for recording?
Can I plug the speaker of my combo tube amp on this (so I won't have to purchase a cab)?

I had one, it was pretty nice. Sounded great loud, sounded great quiet. I should have kept it.

Couldn't say about the sound card, but you should be able to plug it in to the combo speaker just fine as long as that speaker is 4 or 8 ohms.

I think the headphone out can be used with or without a speaker connected to the head.
Whether it is "any good" depends on whether you like the sound profile and the clean of
the Quilter. As a "clean platform" I would imagine it would do what you need. But some
quibble with how well or how much it "sounds like a tube amp". Best way to judge if it
sounds "any good" is to plug in your gear and give it a whirl.

As for using the speaker of your combo tube amp... I guess if your speaker can handle the wattage
of the Quilter and the speaker for the combo amp has a 1/4 speaker cable that you can plug into the
Quilter, then you should be okay.

The speaker cable has a jack. It's a 1X12 with a 8 ohm G12H30 speaker.

CAUTION

^for real that’s how the manual starts re: speakers:

“CAUTION: The 101 can provide enough output to burn out low power speak- ers, especially those built as exact re-issues of vintage 15-30W speakers. For safer results, use the MASTER to select a wattage limit that is equal or less than the speaker being used.”

So, yeah, but only at half power. +/-

As to whether any of that will sound any good or not, Seance has that covered.

Direct Connection to Sound Card:
While it's technically possible to connect a small amp directly to your sound card, it's not recommended. This is because the impedance mismatch between the amp's output and the sound card's input can lead to poor sound quality, potential damage to your equipment, and interference issues.

Using a Combo Tube Amp's Speaker with a Small Amp:
Unfortunately, you can't directly connect a tube amp's speaker to a small amp. Tube amps require specific power and impedance matching to drive their speakers. Connecting a tube amp's speaker to a small amp would likely result in poor sound quality or even damage to the speaker or amp.  

As others have pointed out you should be able to do what you need. I've got a 201 and quilter amps will run on any speaker impedance happily, so if you can plug it in it'll work. Like fuzzisokiguess said, careful about blowing small speakers, but if you're practicing late at night quiet this won't be an issue.

If you want to play with headphones though you don't even need to plug it into a cab, quilters are robust solid state will run happily without a load. That said if you're ONLY looking for this to play quiet and through headphones, it's a bit of an odd choice maybe? I would have thought for headphone playing you'd be better off with something that has cabinet emulation specifically for playing without an amp.

I do love a Quilter though. My main amp is a Tone Block 202. Best ratio of weight-to-tone/volume for the money imo
