You know that badass guitar riff that kicks in at :25? The reason that riff sounds so amazing is actually because of Bill Ward's groovy drumming. The riff would be unmoving without that exact groove.

Good topic, Nora. Bill Ward's groovy drumming was essential to all of Sabbath's music. In fact, without those four exact guys, Sabbath just wouldn't have happened. They had both the musical and personal chemistry to become one of the biggest bands in the world. There was no one in that band who was replaceable.

Until the replacing started.

TBH, I like everything up through and including the bizarre Born Again album. But after they fired Ozzy, they were never the same, everything changed. And it really is the original lineup that's immortal.

On mobile but there's some great footage of Ward in the Paris 70 show that proves he was the man.

One of the greatest rock videos ever shot - however apparently, according to the Super Deluxe 4 CD box set I recently purchased, that is actually shot in Brussels.

Who knows for sure? :oldrant: :idk:
