Spitty snarly fuzz quest

Looking for fuzz suggestions for something that’s kinda spitty and harsh but can still get along with a boost.

I’m thinking maybe a fuzzhugger arc flash? Any other suggestions?

Something fuzzfactory-ish? Fat Fuzz Factory maybe, or Fuzollo?

A tricked out tonebender could do the trick as well I guess. Ever tried a Fuzz Bear or Fubar? Not quite as gnarly, but the bees knees for more classic tonebender tones: Basic Audio. Or my current favorite swiss army fuzz pedlol: Clusterfuzz.

Honestly not a fan of the fuzz factory. Idk just not a fuzz face dude.

Fubar seems neat but two knobs that close together is a deal breaker for me and my clumsy big feet. I wear boots when I play often so I’d definitely fuck that up.

Fuzz bear seems cool, but aren’t tone benders kind of in the muff family? I’m really trying to stray away from muffs. I need something with more cut and attack. Thank you for the suggestions though.

I think of the fuzzes I have right now, White Atom and Fuzz Mutant have the best cut and are def not muffs. WA has more cut, and FM has more balls.

I'm not a muff guy either

Tonebender is great for cut and attack IMO. Not muffy. Also depends on the version. Just sold my fuzz bear after years and I'll prob regret it.

Supa Tonebender and Jumbo Tonebender along with, annoyingly, some 70s 'Benders with non-differentiated naming, are Muff-ish. Mk I to Mk 4 are more like Maestro Fuzztone, Fuzz Face, or Fuzz Face with a boost, depending on which.

I haven't boosted my Carcosa, but it can do spitty and snarly.

There’s so many tonebenders! What’s the best one for crazy noise rock stuff on a budget

Don't know about 'best', and my definition of noise rock me different from yours...But again, as far as tricked out tonebenders go, this mahfakka takes the cake imo...

Fwiw, there's also a smaller/cheaper version available.

I'm not really into big muffs, they're not nearly as present and in yer face and sizzly as the tonebender style fuzzes I played. More whool/sag, less bite/cut...If that makes any sense at all :idk:

Yea adding to the fuzz dojo post, I've spent quite a bit of time with my Suneater yesterday and today, boosting it with the CS-2, also boosting it with the HEQ1, and both. It handles it great and it really brings out the character of the unit. Mine is an older model, which I scored here from a fuzz-bro, but I don't think they have changed a whole lot.

If you can afford to pick one up, you won't be disappointed. I know the Algal bloom 2 is capable of a nearly endless myriad of sounds, just to throw that out there. It'll do the misbiased spitty sound for sure. The big cheese also does spitty good with the gated setting.. you can dial the gain in where it's spitty AF but doesn't completely gate. I know there's clones..

125 clams at coast sonic on reverb, and 15% off at checkout.

My fuzzhugger algal v2 gets it done for me. The choke switch on the top right goes nuts... worth a look especially if you don't have a bloom. So damn versatile

Velcrobot is always a good choice.

I decided to go with an LAL super oscillo 88 clone from codtone. I found a schematic that’s pretty close. Had one mistake with a transistor. Hopefully it sounds close to an original!
