this is from WFMU in New York, confirmed by billboard.com. even if you don't care for his compositions, he's still pivotal for his influence on Lee and Thurston of Sonic Youth and Michael Gira of Swans, all of whom performed as part of his early ensemble in the 80s. RIP.

Never got to see any of Branca's compositions live, but got to meet him briefly years ago. He was a giant.
