I ordered a copy of Ubuntu, but I'm interested in other options as well.I don't know too much about OS's,but I do know that I don't want Vista/XP,and whatever I get needs to be relatively user friendly.

Ubuntu is the one I would go with. Just don't expect it to act exactly like a PC/Mac, it takes a bit of time to get used to it, it also takes a while to get all the programs.

Linux Mint. It's basically an improvement on Ubuntu. I've been using it for a while, and I can honestly say it's way better than Ubuntu.

+1 on the Mint, its based on Ubuntu but has most codecs preloaded, unlike Ubuntu, and its real easy to use

'specially cool that it not only comes with Compiz installed, but with a new program to control its basic functions that most people care about (Wobbly, cube, etc) without having to use the more detailed program.

And the stock theme isn't such an eyesore... I still haven't changed it.

Then you have all the pre-installed codecs, including the ability to rip your music as an mp3 so you can load it onto your mp3 player...

Did I mention it's faster than Windows? It totally is. At least for me...
