I also wish the EHC Bag9 was a reality & not an april fool's day joke, so I could get my Cremaster 3 on proper-like (though the whole score is full of bagpipes & harps & drones & gurgles):
Funny you should start this thread now, I was just listening to this:

Ex Eye is probably my favorite band.
Colin stetson (on that sax) is pretty much a musical god.

Played with this band a few years ago and they blew me away. Experimental/free jazz, and the saxophone is mic'd through a pedalboard and wet/dry into an amp or PA (I forget which, though I believe it was dry into the PA and wet into an amp)

Colin Stetson is something else! I saw him last year and when he played that bass sax it reached Sunn O))) levels of low-end heavies. He played a new piece which started with him just sustaining a ridiculously low and loud note on it for about 3 minutes...
Funnily enough I saw him with Bon Iver in 2012ish and remember thinking 'That sax player's pretty wild' (he got a solo segment in the show to do his thing) then 6 Music made his newest record Album Of The Day one day last year and it just blew my mind, took me a while to put 2 and 2 together...
Ex Eye was one of my favourite shows at Roadburn this year.
I have a band with a trumpet player who has a contact mic on his horn and runs it through pedals and big amps. Sounds pretty rad!

Yeah man, I've seen him with Bon, Ex Eye, solo, and with a large ensemble, and with the exception of the Bon Iver set he always did that mega drone. It's so fucking awesome, I kind of want to quit all this other junk and just study under him. We're also working on a fuzz for him

This isn't the best example of Toshinori Kondo using electronics (there're undoubted better examples), I think his processing here is minimal:
