I bought something off Reverb a little over a week ago and I haven't gotten a shipping confirmation or any communication from the seller. I sent them a message and no reply. How long do you usually wait in a situation like this before cancelling the order?

I have never had to do this. The magic meter I just ordered took like 4 days to ship.. and my 8 string took like a week.. I would send one more message indicating your concerns and say that you will cancel within 36 hours or whatever and then follow through. Sorry man

How much feedback does the seller have, and how did you pay? Is this a custom built item? The Reverb resolution team is usually decent at getting a nonresponsive seller's attention if necessary. The transaction will have to be cancelled on the other end either way.

A week isn't too bad for a private seller, but not responding to emails within a day or two is bogus. I'd give it a couple more days then cancel.
Seems reasonable to give a week for shipping with private individuals, 2 days with businesses.

A week is getting too long, especially with no correspondence.

Had a guy one time buy a pedal from me on a Friday night, and cancelled Monday morning because "taking to long to ship." I had it boxed and was going to ship it on may way to work that morning. Post doesn't run here on Saturdays. So I went with it. Think it took a week+ for the refund to go through for him.

Everyone is in Prime mode. Instant gratification. GIMME NOW.

To the OP, yeah I wouldn't wait too long to get reverb involved. I'm fine giving someone extra time if they're communicating, but not without communication.

I don't buy much used gear but I sell a lot of it, and whenever I sell something I endeavour to send it ASAP after the payment is made. When people are trusting you, a relative stranger with large sums of cash I feel like you owe it to the buyer. I understand a day or two delay if working hours don't align with your postal service or whatever but even then, surely you communicate with the buyer right? An email/Message explaining what's up doesn't take very long.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not really in that much of a hurry to get the thing but no response at all is wack. If the seller was like "hey, I wont be able to ship it till next tues" or whatever I wouldn't be tripping.

The seller only has one feedback left and it's as a buyer. It kinda just seems like he's had this thing for sale for a long time and forgot about it or something.

I had one guy take like two weeks. He respond a week after I placed the order to say he went on vacation. Gave him another week nothing. I messaged him to which he said he mailed it but never provided a tracking number. I found the same pedal cheaper ordered it and canceled my order. But he refused to cancel because he "shipped it already". The second pedal showed up like two days after I ordered it. The first pedal was posted marked the day after I told him to cancel it. I told him that I would refuse delivery and highlighted the postmark date on the package. I wish I could have left feedback to warn other people but because it was refunded it wouldn't let me.

You have to imagine that the strange inabilities to be punctual or show up for work at all etc have representation in the people who sell us gear occasionally. It's kind of a bummer, but it's bound to happen.

If someone won't communicate.. that's the nail in the coffin for me

Yeap. You can commit to buy, but not pay. It's not like I shipped the pedal or anything. It's just frustrating cause it could have been back on the market for some one else, you know?

I had someone very recently buy something from me on a Saturday afternoon and then ask me for shipping info on Monday morning at 6 am. I ignored him and shipped it later that day. Dude didn't even leave feedback. People are such cunts sometimes on Reverb.

I'm late to work 4 out of 5 days a week, but I ship my shit out the next day the post office is open every time.
