Question about input/out capacitors in a circut.. Fuzzface

Soooo.. I understand that the input cap is responsible for setting the impeadence of the circuit but I'm not really sure what the output cap does or what its "responsible" for..

Say for instance i wanted to splice in a rotary switch with a few different cap values, where would i hear more of a difference, in the input cap or the output cap? Or both?

Bump..

Any suggestions for cap values?? The FF circuit i'm working with calls for a .1uf for both the input and output caps..

:idk:

You’ll hear a difference in both.

Decreasing the value from .1 (.o47, .02, .01) will make every thing brighter in stages and pass less bass.

Increasing ( .4, .8, 1 ) will pass more bass roll off the treble and make every thing sound darker.

So get a ganged switch, and do both.

Yea, i have 2 rotary switches i'm going to be using..

This new FF clone i'm making is going to be a 7 knobber :bob:

Soo.. i just poked through my cap stash and this is probably what i'm going to use..

5 knob rotary switch:

.47, .22, .1, .047, .022, .01

Those .47's are quite large too..

You could also try if you don't want the pop of the selector or want an extra knob, a cap blend ala the Easy Face Schematic, pretty simple to implement:

So would i just wire up the switch like so? And not use the blue pole pieces at all?

Btw i'm retarded, i can use 6 caps and not 5.. Haha

You should build a little perfboard for the caps so it's easier to wire up.

Yeah, thats an idea too.. I think the enclosure i was planning to use might be a little small

That piece of perf only needs to be 6 holes by 4-5 holes. That's tiny! You can do it..

Wow! You went from August until January and still didn't just TRY it? :wha?:
My mind is blown right now, I gotta say.

Big output cap (.47uF) on a Fuzzface = muddy, woofy, wooly, crap.
Small output cap in the same circuit = clearer, more definition, nice.

My CAD$0.02 worth

I made this thread a while back for a second FF clone that i had made for my brother.. Now i'm making a third thats more complicated, I had a question so I bumped it :thumb:
