Syncussion Discussion Concussion

:whoa: :flame: :whoa:

After seeing this vid of Steffi and the TR-8S, anyone around here familiar with any of the numerous clones of the Pearl Syncussion?

The Human Comparator makes a DIY clone kit for about $350 or so (waiting list, per half year or so, it would seem):

but does anyone have any similar system or unit combo that fits the bill? I can probably get there with an SQ-1 and few of the EH drum modules, or even some Pocket Operators, but I'd thought I'd ask either way.

Also, I was totally thrilled with the large & in charge OG Pearl, so maybe a DIY kit is in my future :idk: (and basically a reason to finally buy a cheepie Realistic Reverb Unit to go alongside it) :trippy:

I tried to get one of the human comparator ones from his site...good luck with that. It doesn't like a lot of cards/won't even run them. No PayPal. I've seen listings for resale though and lowgain builds them from time to time (don't know his cost).

Always thought they were dang cool though.

Boss had those synth handclap pedals. Ladik makes a 3 module synth drum based off synare. Vermona has some cool stuff too if you're spendy.

Coron DS-8 is another one. (Ladik used to make those too)

Looks like the price shot up to around $750 for the DIY kit from THC, but yeah, no PP/no sale :grumpy:

Elsewhere, built & running kits are around $1500 + shipping from Germany (no thanks?) - might as well go vintage for that price point (okay, maybe not, buuuuuuuut)

The Ladik looks sweet, but it's OOP from the looks of it. Vermona is out of my price point, sadly, probably forever :picard:

The Coron & clones look on the money, but seems unlikely I'll run across one, but it'll probably still be cheaper than another other current options, hmmmmm

I don't want to go modular, I really don't? But I also didn't know the Syncussion had a sample & hold section, too? The Boss handclap pedals are usually in a bad state of affairs when they pop up, but I've always wanted a Synare (another relevant thread re: a Jupiter III)

:joy: Thanks 4 the leads LG :joy:

Likewise, here's a Boss PN-2 clone that's available as a kit ($65) or assembled (around $95) from Rakit in the UK:

This, while a LOT of fun and bang for buck, is a very lofi sounding oscillator and the cv control leaves a lot to be desired. That said I love mine a lot and would recommend it as probably the best value analog drum box for sure.

That Rakit stuff looks cool. Definitely been on my radar lately.

...I thought the PN-2 was a trem/panning pedal though? :p

Cool! I'm going to have to pick one up myself, but I figured that it was probably a little lacking in the oomph dept - looks totally fun, though :omg:

or the Amdek PCK-100 :snax:

But yeah, the Rakit stuff seems like the most bang for the buck at the moment (but I'm still looking for a PN-2 under a hundo, either way :)*)

They're in the $600+ range at the moment & getting rarer everyday, but they look sweet!

This would surely melt into some sort of monkey drummer situation though, and all of my monkeys have, sadly, been retired:
