Affordable midi bass pedals?

I cant seem to find any of these less than four or five hundred. Im looking for as cheap as possible.

Yeah. Only way to do it on the cheap is salvaging and wiring it up with an Arduino, etc.

This was my plan as well. Except I was just going to buy an enormous pedal enclosure and fill it with the required switches and arduino stuff.

I have the shell of a couple bass pedals if anyone is looking to put one together. One in decent, one in poor condition.
I stole the synth guts for something else.

The 12-Step seems like the nicest off the shelf option and affordable, but it's not a bad DIY project either.
I built one myself with arcade buttons, scrap plywood, and a midicpu board from here:
