Sola Sound/Colorsound Power Boost

Hi everyone,
I am new here, as my typical realm is the amp garage, but I've recently been bitten by the fuzz bug. I've gone through several different fuzzes in the last year (big muff, swollen pickle, supro fuzz, ge fuzz face i built, fuzz factory, Jext Telez White pedal v2, Spaceman Titan ii) and i have finally found my holy grail, the Jext Telez Dizzy tone with the black glass oc44. I reduced the collector resistor for q1 to reduce the gating effect. It just puts all my other fuzzes to shame, and I've sold all of them (still waiting for the spaceman to go).

Thats a little about me, here's my real question:

I have decided to look for a lower gain fuzzy overdrive to pair with my Dizzy Tone. I pulled the trigger on a Sola Sound Power Boost 9 volt version in one of their cool enclosures, but it was $300. I am wondering if this will get me where I need to be? The limited videos of it on youtube sound really good, but was it worth my money? How is the Sola Sound build quality? I've noticed that it didn't use NOS transistors, which is a little bummer, but was my money well spent?
Thanks!
-Josh

Will you be using them both on at once?

Because if you're gonna be using the Power Boost after the Dizzy, you'll probably take the edge off it. :idk:

(That's not a knock on the Power Boost. Almost any pedal after a Dizzy might have similar consequences.)

Build quality on the Sola should be just fine. NOS isn't always better. :idk:

Whether it's worth you money is an entirely different story. Depends on if it does what you want it to. :idk:

Lots of clones of the power boost/overdriver that don't cost that much. In terms of anecdotal experience, my Creepy Fingers Dizzy clone stacks nicely into my Hudson Broadcast, which is one of those mixing desk preamp type OD pedals that a lot of people are building lately.

I will likely not be using them at the same time, and will be using them on diffferent tracks for recording, just for some different fuzz textures.

I know there's cheaper clones out there, but I had some money to blow from selling other pedals, and i figured why not go for the official one? I love the huge enclosures and its fun to have limited/rare pedals. So i guess I'll see what I think when it arrives.

Those are my reasons for purchasing it, what do you all think of the power boost/overdriver for the lower gain drive/fuzz tones?

In that case, I think you'll be fine. :thumb:
