SuperFuzz clone or something else?

What's up my fuzz loving brethren! It's been a while since I was active on this forum (I got out of playing guitar for a while), but the other week I was at my mate's place and he had two shin-ei fuzz wahs. One sounded pretty meh, but the other was fucking amazing! Super thick, juicy, octaves/harmonics errywhere! Just an incredible sounding pedal. Obviously, playing it has reignited my fuzz lust so I've been looking at heaps of demos of different superfuzz clones to try to get the same fuzzy goodness. Before I pull the trigger on one though, I thought I'd check in here to see if maybe there wasn't something else that might fit the bill as well or better (thick/juicy/octavey/harmonicy/chewy/fuzz goodness) for a reasonable price.

Budget is probably about $120us (hopefully including shipping to Australia) so options may be limited, but I know I can pick up superfuzz clones in that price range. So, what do you recommend to cure my fuzz cravings?

Fredric's clones are the fuckin business. If you can get a Super Unpleasant Companion, you get fy2 & fy6 AND it's in a sexy wedge.

The reuss googoo fuzz is also very good. Used by Kid Congo himself!

Yeah, it looks awesome, but too rich for my blood right now.

The Fredric's is amazing, but again a bit too far out of my budget. Googoo sounds good too, but again more than I can spend right now.

Pre-built BYOCs seem to be a little out of my range, but thanks for the suggestion.

Do you know if both were identical models? There are 6tr and 8tr versions out there, which might explain why one sounded better than the other? I've not had first hand experience. I think they will look the same on the outside.

I don't think anyone makes a wah-clone, mainly because the wah effect is fairly bad, but you can't go wrong with any super fuzz clone for that basic sound.

They may well have been different, he thought they were the same, but neither of us are experts by any stretch. The wah was definitely underwhelming, but the fuzz was incredible!

Anyway, thanks everyone for the suggestions so far! I have just ordered a Analog Fox Super Fuzz clone. This demo https://youtu.be/RTgZZXcU9Cw?t=1m4s sold it for me (plus I found one for sale by a guy in Australia for a price that I just couldn't pass up).

I'm just glad you didn't end up with a Codtone.

I came into possession of a Fredric SUC and can reaffirm that it does indeed rip hard (I'd tried in a shop before but not for very long). Never had an Fy2 before and it's very Auerbach.

More like super FUCKED. I mean, we build one, but damn are they a pain. Strange noises and weird interactivity noises, and REAL picky about power.

OH yeah you mean you want to play one...
Yes, do that, they sound awesome.
