Also take a look at what PL put out this year that isn't Necro Dethmort. It's pretty bleak.

I see you're partial to tripe.
Mirror reaper? Looks like everyone forgot what a good funeral doom record was after Corrupted hung it up. Probably the most story driven record since the disintegration loops, without the poignancy.
Heartless? Pallbearer are the most formula friendly "doom" out there today. The sword 2.0. The only good jam they have is a Type O cover that is saved by the source material.
Trumpeting ecstasy? It's a full of hell record. Comfort food grind.
Artificial Brian is tech death, and here we must remember Kemper's first law: the quality of the record is often if not always inverse to the number of notes.
And lastly
I haven't done this in a bit it's great fun.

Also Skullflower put out a record this year. And no one noticed because PL was too busy smearing the ears of the impressionable youth with, uh not as good records.

Sorry, I can't hear your wrong opinions over the ferocity of my Onanism.

I like ARTIFICIAL BRAIN although I can't disagree with your thoughts on tech death (this was elaborated on in another thread).
FULL OF HELL just rules.
I had no idea a new SKULLFLOWER came out. I thought they were done?

Far from it, I think dude has released roughly 1,000,000, records since starting the band up again in the early 00's. Its different than the old stuff, but there's definitely some bangers.
Most of the official releases are on spotify, the rest you can find here:

Thank you! I knew they got back together...I just thought they were done...again. I remember reading an interview with Stefan Jaworzyn more than a few years ago and enjoying his solo output.

Artificial Brain was one of the best releases of 2017.
Krallice released another album that is on another level than pretty much every other band ever.
Cruciamentum dropped a pretty killer EP.
Fucking Disma released an EP, and if you don't like them you need to wash that Godsmack shirt of yours.
Loss released a new one that was rad.
Impetuous Ritual I still haven't even gotten around to listening to. But should be rad.
That's not a horrible year...
