Dimarzio Chopper? Opinions?

So, I've got a Squier Bronco project bass that I'm going to be stringing up piccolo-style to get into guitar range. I've been trying to decide if I should change the pickup or not - I just got the bass, so I haven't tried the pickup with the piccolo strings yet (that's tomorrow), but with regular old bass strings the pickup isn't super great. Some friends suggested that I try a Dimarzio Chopper, which is a mini-humbucker... the reviews I've found online say that it's not very humbucker-like, but is more like a warmer Strat p'up. Not being a guitarist, I have no idea what to think...

Anyone out there have experience with Choppers? Any thoughts?

Isn't the pickup in the Bronco bass a Squier Strat pickup?

Really? I'll have to do a little more research... that could work out just fine then...
