Mid-Fi Psych Byke or Demo Tape Fuzz. Doug's fuzzes lend themselves well to those sorts of sounds.

That's a classic example of too much fuzz for not enough amp! Sounds nasty as hell!

@OP - If you like 60s garage fuzz sounds, you might like a Mosritre Fuzzrite variant.
The song you posted is probably a Maestro Fuzztone, though. For that sound you want a fuzz that can do a gated fuzz, maybe with a bias control. An under biased 3 transistor germanium Tonebender type fuzz might get you into that territory.
supposed to be a fuzztone in there ...idk...some crazy gated shyit^

Hey Conductor" provided both a sizeable hit and new lease of life for one-time rockabilly Sonny Flaharty. Fuelled by a paper 'n' comb sounding fuzztone 12-string and a piping Farfisa organ (which candidly borrows the main riff from Ray Charles' "I Don't Need No Doctor")

Thanks for all the suggestions. The Bumble Buzz sounds pretty great. The Psych Byke sounds really cool too.

A Fuzzstainer will do that for you if you starve the bias control. One of my favourite silicon fuzzes for that very reason. A Regulus VIII/Os Mutantes fuzz (like the Basic Audio Fuzz Mutant) might also get close if you fiddle with the volume pot on your guitar.
The only other pedal I can think of that'll do it would be a Ghost Effects Warmjet. Again, you can use the bias controls to starve the signal.
