Surprised I couldnt find anything right away. I feel like that would be pretty simple to DIY yea? Maybe a builder here can chime in?

The new Elta Console has a joystick and is a a multi-cartridge effect, so maybe that could be a solution. But it would probably be cheaper and more satisfying to build a stand-alone exp controller. I don't know how though.

Is it possible to convert an old gaming joystick to control expression?

Possibly. Ive seen people modify old xbox controllers to use as midi controllers before. That was midi tho. Analog, potentially it could be it controls two things. one on the x axis and one on the y. Thats how I would wanna see one of these things be at least.

Definitely surprised I can't think of one. Not quite what you're looking for, but made me think of this:

A joystick controlling two expression outs would be sweet. P

Passive expression or CV?

I've taken an embarrassingly long time on the latter, I think the joystick I procured is 5K each axis, which I think is an order of magnitude lower than your standard baseline treadle expression pedal.

This is a build that can be done, but proper two axis controllers that allow planting your own potentiometer are either unobtanium or industrial controls. So the cost of entry is somewhat prohibitive.

It’s technically a mixer, but I bet he’d be able to tell you if wiring it up for CV or EXP was possible.

I wish there was some way of knowing if this would work. Guess I should message toe seller and see if they know the pot values

It appears to me as if you can swap out the pots on that (the set screw visible in picture secures a smooth shaft). That's a fine example of industrial control right there, probably something you'd spend $4-500 on new. Notice it is set up for hall effect as well (the silver things that are not wired), in the event you're rolling digital stuff as well you could support both simultaneously without fucking around with conversion, at least, if you're dabbling in code.

Can you explain what you mean by hall effect and rolling digital?

There's a real lack of options in this category I find. It's either a big knob, treadle, or the coolest mass produced kind is maybe zvex's probe but I don't think you can get that by itself. Yeah, what about joysticks, faders, and infrared?

I was reminded of this demo vid with a homemade crossfader exp pedal.. maybe you can msg the fella. Let us know what you end up finding!
