Mr. Black - Tapex 2 (IN STEREO)

I got this pedal last week and have been having a ton of fun with it. It’s one of the best tape delay pedals I’ve heard (the tape setting on the Ecosystem is also up there). There’s a couple of clip sin stereo for you to check out. The right channel delay is half of the left channel, which gives you a pretty full sound. I hoped to have this video out earlier but you know… hurricanes. I did everything I needed to stay safe so I had some time to finish editing this tonight. Hope you enjoy it. I’m also doing a pedal giveaway on my channel next week, if my house is still here of course.
Anyone else have a Tape 2? Thoughts?

It's like a Strymon Deco if it was designed for experimental players.
I really like that Boss BF-2 sound it gets.

Some fun sounds, but the "tape" warble sounds way fake - and like pretty much everything I've seen in the digital realm, it doesn't grasp the "oscillating but you don't lose echoes on top of that as well" you can edge on a Plex or a Space Echo.
Reminds me of a Timebender with the warble set too high without all the fun stuff.

The only ones that seem to do that pretty well in faking it are PT2399 delays with shunt clipping and an optocoupler based modulation, from what I've seen.
I thought the whole "tape" bit was relating to reel-to-reels and doubletracking rather than tape echos, but I guess you're right in how they appear to be marketing it, looking at the product page.

The only time I hear warble on EP3 tape is when the tape is so shot you can hardly hear any repeat, it also happens at really long intervals because of how long the tape is

I would love to try out a deco. Eventually I'll grab a used one somewhere.
