Embiggening AKA generic fuzz question #251

So now that I'm playing in a band-type situation, I've been trying out fuzzes left and right trying to find that "blow your dick off" gigantic fuzz sound.

Mostly for single notes, and sometimes fairly fast runs. It's less important that I can use it for chords, although that would be a plus. Another plus is if I can stack it or run it after OD/comp.

I know the go-to is probably something oscillating. I'm borrowing a fat fuzz factory right now but I haven't had much time to dive in.

The problem I'm having is that at band volume in a small room, it all sort of sounds the same. I don't need something that cuts through, I need something that smashes the mix like a fucking jackhammer.

Something weird and kinda ugly that doesn't step on my bass players toes too much.

Otherwise I'm just gonna end up getting a harmonizer at some point and keeping it on the 5th up setting or something.

BUZZZ for big notes, for sure, but it needs to be pre-OD because it swallows everything in front of it whole. :snax:

edit: oh, wait... You're playing guitar now? If so, then I'd not go with something that bottom heavy. Maybe a gated oscilating fuzz, like the Fuzz-E-Cat, 141T/G or Velcrobot.

I don't own this but piggy backing off UC, Tom has a pretty sweet velcrobot deal going on now. The finish looks spectacular. If I was on the market for another Fuzz it would be that one.

Velcrobot is the correct answer. It IS amazing and it soars above everything everyone else is playing.

Dude, what didn't you like about the unpleasant surprise? On paper that would fit the bill...
Also fourth'd on the Velcrobot, but it has certain similarities with the US...

I do have a Mid-Fi Glitch Computer and I do love it but I don't think that is crazy for this context. 2 Crzy?

My buddy's B-Day is next week. He doesn't have a single Fuzz pedal right now....I think I'm going to get him the velcrobot per the other thread.
