2 nights ago, I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with my girlfriend

Every song was played with uncanny awesomeness. They looked amazing and like they were genuinely having a good time. Nick kept taking pictures of the audience and I just happened to be in them all . I smuggled in a bunch of glow sticks and broke them and sprayed them everywhere. I was VERY VERY close to the stage (not the front but about one row of bodies behind it. Karen looks REALLY hot again (like in the Fever days). They played a good mix of songs (only 2 from Show Your Bones) but they didn't play anything from the ISIS EP which was a little disappointing but I didn't mind because they played Art Star . Amanda Blank opened and it was really good and really loud (her DJs raped the bass in that venue). Mostly it was just really fun and sexy. Between Amanda and Karen I must have came in my pants like 6 times .

Oh and I caught Karen's sweaty towel .

i have not been to a show all year due to alot whole lot of bullshit & malaise or whatever but i am hoping i can see Broadcast in the fall. & maybe APTBS. maybe...

A few weeks ago I went to a festival in Toronto and saw Holy Fuck and DD/MM/YYYY (pronounced day month year,. and the following day went back and saw Broken Social Scenes first real show in like 3 years which was filmed for a Bruce Macdonald film. Needless to say it was pretty awesome. I screamed like a girl at broken social scene and math-rocked the fuck out at DD/MM/YYYY, who are definitely one of the best live bands ever.

I've only been to one concert this year, which was "In This Moment", which was kinda a half-thrash/half-numetal group. My best friend is a big fan, so I went along with him. The music was a little meh, but the singer had a great voice and she could scream her ass off It was at a tiny bar in Boston, and they came out to meet everyone afterwards. I thought that was pretty cool.

The last concert I went to because I really wanted to was Rancid in Worcester last year. That was a brutal crowd, the pit was intense. Rancid kicked my ass, too. Those guys can still stomp heads, even though they're all 40ish.

i went to all points west festival on sunday, it was amazing

we got there at around 2:30 and w had to wait till 4:45 for them to let us in, they thought that there was going to be a huge storm coming through, so they wouldnt let us in the park.

we got in and the first few bands were cut (no one really cared, they werent anyone big) and silversun pickups started the festival....AWESOME. they played some songs from their new album: substitution, panic switch, theres no secrets this year...and some stuff from carnavas like future foe scenarios, lazy eye (of course), and also Little lovers so polite (the best song of the set)...i forgot a few songs but...

then we went to We are Scientists who were awesome live, so much energy, and they got alot of cool guitar noise, feedback, etc, making for awesome sound/music. then after their set, we went to get food, and on our way over we saw the guitarist/singer walking to go to the vip tent, and of course, we all went to ambush him. i talked to him for a while and i told him how cool his guitar sounds were and i asked what effects he was using (dd3 and i think he said a rat..not sure....)

after that we wasted time till mgmt/coldplay who were headlining it, and we went to echo and the bunny men. the singer was a fucking bad ass, smoking up there on stage, and he kicked the finished cigarette into the crowd, bad ass. then we waited some more, saw black keys, kinda boring- not a fan. mgmt came on and they sounded great, pulled out some new songs that werent on the album, and we split and went to coldplay who were great performers, but im not a huge fan of the music....

after standing in 3-6 inches of mud for 8 or 9 hours we figured it was time to leave. over all it was an awesome experience, and silversun pickups were by far the best set we saw that day (well i thought so) , brian aubert is some performer, and they have been a favorite band of mine for round 2 years so im probably being biased.

At the beginning of the summer I saw Grizzly Bear. Amazing, beauutiful performance. They're harmonies live are unreal, plus their drummer blew me away.

Then I saw the Dirty Projectors with opener Vieux Farka Toure. Awesome show. Farka Toure was amazing, great afrobeat and beauutiful clean chorusy guitar work.

I was at All Points West on Saturday and saw my friends group The Postelles who put on a decent show, plus White Rabbits, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead, Arctic Monkeys, Gogol Bordello, My Bloody Valentine, and Tool. I was mostly there to see MBV again and they delivered. The Tool fans sucked though, booing and waving middle fingers in the air through most of the set...fucking pricks...kinda ruined the atmosphere. Arctic Monkeys were surprisingly good, Gogol Bordello was AWESOME, amazing performers live.

It's getting to be almost a year now, but I saw MBV at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC in september (their second US show in 16 years) and almost cried. It was beauutiful and terrifying at the same time. I have never felt such an assault on my senses. The visuals were astounding and seizure inducing, and the sound, oh the SOUND. ethereal. It was so special. Best concert I've ever been to. I didn't do any drugs or funny business before or during the show, but walked out feeling like I was tripping balls...almost got run over by a taxi. I was in the front row facing Bilinda and that image will forever be with me. I drove the 3 and a half hours down from school that afternoon and drove back that night only to have to get up for a 9am class. I will never forget that night.

also at first i was pissed about the drinking thing, only 5 drinks in a sectioned off area, but after sspu i couldnt care less. i did do some absent before the show started though, that stuff is crazy....lol

So far this year I've seen Static-X, Korn, Chevelle, Alice In Chains, Dave Matthews Band, Street Sweeper Social Club, Nine Inch Nails, and Jane's Addiction. I've got tickets for X-Fest in Dayton Ohio which is headlined by Alice In Chains. Their new singer is awesome!

Concert highlights were getting drenched at the DMB concert (had lawn seats and it rained the whole time), seeing Tom Morello use his guitar like a theremin (it was also his birthday), seeing NIN where Trent thanked the crowd for supporting him through the years and that he might be on hiatus for a while, the go-go dancer that Static-X had (just something you don't see at concerts that much, at least in the metal genre), and hearing AIC's new singer William Duvall belt out some classics.

On Wednesday, I saw Prog. Nation. Left around 5:00, arrived around 6:00, got a Frank Zappa t-shirt, and waited for the concert to start. Scale the Summit were pretty good, a little boring, though. Then, Bigelf went on stage. The were very good, although they channeled many 60's/70's Psychedelic and Prog. rock bands, to the point where it was nearly a rip-off of sorts. By then, the place reeked of pot. Shortly later, Zappa Plays Zappa went on. They played an atonal happy birthday for one of the members. Then, they went on to perform a series of dead-on covers of FZ's music. There were many onstage antics, and many laughs were had. Finally, Dream Theater got on stage. They were very good. I was worried, as I had heard LaBrie was quite the Pro Tools singer, but he sound better live than he did on the album. I got pictures, of everyone's rigs, except for DT (which I'll post if anyone is interested). Also got to meet John Petrucci and John Myung earlier that day.

I maid it to the Pontiac Sunn O))) and Eagle Twin Show. A spiritual Moment. Standing Room Only for 160 about 90 to 100 showed. I picked up A oracle tour only double cd and a split they did with Pan Sonic about six minutes long and Grimm Robes Demo daymare import. So that was thee swag. Let us first discuss Gentry's new band Eagle Twin. Now most concerts I have been to have a somewhat decent band open for them and most times (In my Experience) first impressions of bands live I've never heard end bad ala Devil Driver opening in Chi for Opeth. They Played maybe an hour and tore my face of then sewed it back on then melted it off. Seriously Check these guys out and for fucks sake Buy the fucking disk It's sothern lord not sony. I understand downloading the second disc that Sunn O))) releases on daymare and we can only get at a fair price at shows but support small labels and in turn one day maybe karma will give you someone who supports you. Sorry sometimes I trip over the soapbox, anywho. Their set unbelievable really sincere cats as well. No seriously they have cats. (no they didn't) But I can't say enough for their mythic baritone guitar and drum duo so I'll stop here. There was almost a thirty minute wait as they got off stage and sunn setup. Once Sunn left the stage in street clothes the ceremony began. Lights went off a random kid ate mushrooms Not me some photo kid in front of me. Smoke begins filling and I do mean filling the room and the temp quickly reaches 80 to 90 degrees as they play a selection of indian raga doom and end with you guessed it black sabbath. at the end of the track a sample of the lead singer from pantera weeping and deifying dimebag enter Sunn O))) begin the most out of body experience I've ever had sober. The loudess was about enough for a room that would hold @ thousand. The best Live show ever. Check them if you get the chance. Do the first one sober so you'll know if you can handle that shit under the influence.

I saw Brutal Truth on April 23rd with two of my best friends.All the opening bands sucked,but it was fun to laugh and yell shit at them.Brutal Truth got to play a little longer because one of the local bands bailed before finishing a song because some kids got kicked out for moshing.They really made up for the 3 hours of shit we went through just to see them,and I came home with some picks,the new album on colored vinyl,and a Sounds of the Animal Kingdom shirt.I know I tell this story all the time but I don't go to shows very often.YAY Rochester....but The Melvins and Weedeater are coming soon.

I just saw Deerhunter, No Age, and Dan Deacon at Turner Hall in Milwaukee on Friday. They were playing "round robin" style with each band taking turns playing songs- sometimes playing the song all together. It was super good. Especially Deerhunter who was just mind-boggling.

At one point later in the show Bradford from Deerhunter and Randy from No Age were participating in a Dan Deacon-initiated dance contest. Well, Randy slipped on someone's spilled beer and hit the floor really hard and just laid there. The music stopped and it was dead silent. Then the audience was ushered out of the building. We saw an ambulance pull up and that was it. End of show.

Turns out he just dislocated his shoulder, but it was pretty scary for a second there.

Yeah its awesome because its an all ages show so I can get in.Downs the headliner though...they suck.

Salt Lake City UT has free shows every Thursday during the Summer at the Gallivan Center for the Twilight Concert Series. My wife and I made it to one of the shows a few weeks ago that had Land of Talk and M. Ward. Both bands were just spot on, and they sounding amazing. Those weekly free shows attract a lot of people, all different types. You see a large number of people showing up just for the beer, being SLC UT they don't get it out in the open like that usually.
If you're ever passing through SLC on a Thursday night in the summer for whatever reason, there's always a free show.
