Fingers crossed Octatrack MK1 used prices will go down a sizeable amount.

Yeah, that's the maun hope, doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of upgrades to warrant an upgrade. Rumors seem to point to no overbridge. So we shall see where things go.

^ yea hope this isn't just a cosmetic upgrade as it seems to be....pretty lame if it is.
i guess more dedicated buttons is cool for such a deep and dense device...but wheres the conditional trigs and stuff?

Doooooope. I've been wondering if they were gonna do this, because the MKI was the only thing in their line that didn't work with Overbridge. I'd be surprised if the new one still doesn't.
Also, that thing looks so nice — I like the Digitakt-style display and buttons. I hope they don't overhaul the Rytm too soon to look like that, as I just got one. If they do, I'm gonna be salty.

dang $750 is a steal!!!..mk1 or not. somebody scoop that!
from what i read from elektronauts (which supposed was from someone in the elektron camp) no OB, runs the same OS as MKI. the upgrade is purely external.
better audio outputs. new screen, new encoders and buttons, more dedicated buttons for smoother use.

not really feeling the grey and black scheme either. mk1 looks better to my eyes.

Nah im fucking into this aesthetically, however kinda pissy that it's just a hardware upgrade as opposed to a total overhaul of the OT. Also really surprised the didn't add overbridge. People would kill for that with the OT.
What I really want is a monomachine in a digital sized box. It's pair amazingly with my analog 4.

Yeah I will say... I'm not sure why they went grey, either. The Digitakt looks super sweet with that button style, but black finish. I think they should've kept it at least visually consistent in terms of case color.

yea! the black on black is fresh. maybe i gotta see this grey mkII in person. these pics look like graphic mock ups to me, not actual photos.
its entirely possible too that my eyes are being clouded by me being bummed they didn't go all the way w/ the update
and atleast give it all the standard features of the newer gen elektrons.
conditional trigs, usb over midi, OB for the kids.
maybe they are saving it and being coy about it now but it seems off.
maybe they didn't wanna piss off a bunch of ppl who just copped the digitakt...?
if u look at it, they have been very careful about creating separation in their lineup.
they shoulda just added sampling to the RYTM or drum synthesis to the DIGITAKT. it woulda been so beautiful.
i also really miss SCENEs when jamming w/ DIGI. scenes are awesome.

I don't have an immediate use case for an Octatrack and in fact do not understand fully what the Octatrack does.
This new iteration, this "mark 2," infuriates me, however. Elektron did not address my concerns in the following ways:
1. Not colorful
2. Does not have a built in Klon clone on the master FX
3. No "swarm oscillator"
3. Cannot transfer samples via Android Nougat
4. Sample Manager still mistreats Sample Employees
5. I have written to Elektron several times simply with the phrase: "What is this, 2012?" and they have not responded
6. Cannot hit samples "from the side"
7. Does nothing to save the bees and probably harms the bees
8. Not the kind of box I'd want to drink a beer with
9. Voice commands not implemented (i.e. "Octatrack, can cats eat pancakes?")
10. Terrible feng shui
11. I did not have spiritual visions while meditating with Octatrack mark 1 and it seems Elektron did nothing to enhance the possibility of spiritual visions with mark 2
12. (Rumor) Automatically erases anything approaching a "house beat"
13. (Rumor) No alarm clock
14. (Rumor) "Demoralizes" other gear by its very presence
15. (Rumor) Samples only sound good if sampled from another Elektron device (does not include SidStation)
