Is there such a thing....

So, I wanted to ask about the existence of a specific thing, but maybe if we had a thread dedicated to exploring the availability of things we had thought of, but weren't sure if they'd been made or not, that might not suck.

I'll go first.
Is there a clean boost with a FAC control and a baxandall 3 band eq?
Because I would fucking love one.
:snax:

Is there such a thing as a 3 band Bax? I thought that's what the FAC is for.

A Fuzzrocious Feed Me or Baxstabber probably fits in this category?

How do you even have a three band bax? I feel like the whole point is that it's two knobs?

A Baxandall tone stack is two bands by design. Manipulating those two bands can give the perceived effect of midrange cut or boost. If you want three bands in that style you would either tack on an active mid after the tone stack, which is the order of operations in a V4 tone stack, or just use a 3+ band active EQ presuming you want the ability to boost bands in the first place. Otherwise a passive tone stack with recovery is much simpler.

See, this is why I ask these questions, I have no idea how eqs work.

There are three band "Bax" circuits published, all it is is another somewhat lower tuned treble leg with a shunt cap draining the high frequencies to the common node, making for a bandpass. I'm not sure Peter Baxandall was involved...

Maybe James or Volkoff was, though.

That's what I thought but wasn't sure if I'd misremembered or imagined it.
Thanks man!
Checking out the Baxstabber demo now.
It's looking pretty much perfect for what I need.

Yeah, I'm not paying that for that.

It would be interesting to have the Baxandall EQ and Sensitivity rocker switches of the Ampeg V4 in pedal form. I always liked how powerful the eq shaping was on that amp.

I just grabbed one used for under 200 (then got reamed on shipping, but whatever). I've been liking it so far. :idk: Worth checking out if a deal presents itself and you don't mind that it's a literal brick.

I forgot about the Elements and Black Forest... I own both and they fill this role pretty well. I actually use the Black Forest as a synth preamp and then slam it with a Mini or an Elements

Yeah Ive been using the Forest for this, but I want to go back to using it as a high gain dirt in conjunction with other fuzzes, pkus im an asshole and I want more eq options than are ever necessary.

As much as I want a PYears, I'm probably never going to be able to afford to get one down here.

Thats actually a decent price, Mr Lasombres, but no way can orange justify that retail price.
