Modular synth folks, please help me! (S&H content)

I have a L.A.L. 86 at home right now. It has the expression pedal input labelled "CV in", but it isn't designed for receiving control voltage according to what lordgalvar said to me.

So I started experimenting with my KORG MS-20 mini, a bright LED and a photo diode. Because the LED worked really fine with the voltage from the synth's LFO or the control wheel output (receiving up to 2.5V to 5.0V this way), I also tried the MS-20's S&H with pink noise as the source. And that was my main goal: making the S&H randomly light up the LED so the photo diode can make the L.A.L. 86 produce random oscillation noise.

It didn't work. With the pink noise driven S&H alone the LED didn't light up a bit - no wonder! It was very frustrating for me to see that the pink noise (and white noise has less effect) affects the S&H in a way that it drops or raises the voltage by 0.2V only, or something in that range. Boo-urns! :grumpy:

So my question is: is there a nice S&H generator that produces 0 to 2.5V or even 5.0V? Is there maybe already some combination with an opto-coupler so I can instantly use it with effects or synths that can be used with a variable resistor (expression pedal)? Thanks for your suggestions! :thumb:

Instant thought is to look at the Copilot stuff or an EHX 8 step. Not sure if you're looking for true 'stepped' voltages, or if you want randomized sounds from a noise source. I understand those to be two different things, but I might just be unclear on what you're going for.

Thanks for mentioning Copilot fx! The Broadcast seems to be the perfect tool! :omg:

I don't know why I never mentioned the broadcast to you, Pepe. I use heck out of mine.

In b4 LG with Copilot recommendation. Special ILF medal achieved.
