Well like a fool I sold my Wattson fy6 and find myself longing for another which can be hard to find.

Any opinions on what else I could replace it with? I've heard about the ss/bs buzz, CBC clone, Fredric Effects, Black Cat and Creepy Fingers but have no firsthand experience with any of them.

The buzzz intrigues me the most because of its ability to get some crazy fuzz sounds, but I also want the basic Superfuzz tones.

The Maxon Air or Ether may be worth exploring, though neither has as many bells or whistles as the Buzz. I have 3 other fuzzes from the same product line, and they are amazing.

Another option to consider may be something like the Maxon Void (based on the Ampeg Scrambler) or a Green Ringer clone, which could transform any existing fuzzes in your rig into a Superfuzz.

Reuss makes a Cramps-inspired version faithful to the original design called the Goo Goo Fuzz that sometimes turns up relatively cheap on Reverb.

Also, if pedal board real estate ever becomes a concern, Dead(fx) makes a mini version, the I Can't Feel My Face.

Lastly, the Boss FZ-2 is often regarded as being in the same ballpark, and Behringer has made an affordable clone of the FZ-2 called the Super Fuzz.

The Buzzz is pretty damn nice, both for traditional Superfuzz tones and for more "useable" or whatever tones. The ability to switch the octave off is pretty nice. If only it could Control the mids it would be perfect.

Necromancer is the heaviest dang thang.

Ehh, I found that the most practical sounds for me were fairly low gain with the flat EQ, octave on the stomp. Plenty of mids and lows. Not much good if you're committed to scoop mode though.

I have a buzzz and a reuss goo goo and they're both great. I'd say that the reuss sounds are in the buzzz but maybe the EQ settings are slightly different between the two. I think creepyfingers will build them with a knob instead of a scoop/flat switch, and no doubt it kicks ass.

My old sound used to be buzz without octave, then for leads I'd switch the octave on and a W&C box of war after the buzzz. Sounded great.

My personal favorite, even though it's a bit too menacing and not as 'classic' sounding to count as a real clone: FZ-2.
I tried mine side by side next to the Wattson FY6, expecting the secksy lookin FY6 to blow the cheap old fz-2 out of the water. But event though the FY6 is a good as a classic superfuzz circuit gets, with lots of bite and a hint of octave...It just lacks the extra gain and low end oomph of the FZ-2.

Other than that, the Buzzz seems awesome, but I'd personally rather go with one of those Maxons, I'm generally not a big fan of bells and whistles on dirt peds
Haven't messed with the Ether, but I doubt you could go wrong with that one. Compact, paramatric eq, not too many other silly controls...
For about the same price and similar controls, the superfuzz'ish clone I'd be the most curious about if my FZ-2: Necromancer.

But yeah, if you want both crazy stuff and straight superfuzz tones out of one pedlol, maybe the Buzzz is what you want.

Do what I did. I built a byoc superfuzz, and it's really good. This ignited a love of pedal building. It's not that hard once you grasp the fundamentals. Then go to tagboardeffects and build one of the superfuzz vero layouts. They have one for the Wattson fy6.

My vote goes to the Friedric Effects Super Unpleasant Companion, which has a Companion Fuzz built into the same (awesome-looking) enclosure. The super Fuzz side pretty much works anywhere to different effect but likes being before any buffered pedals. It's the only super fuzz I've played but is easily the most ferocious of the many fuzzes I have.
