I'm about to spend $300 on an Alesis Micron but I just realized that I don't know THAT many different synthesizers so is there something better I could get for that money? hat would be similar to the Micron?

wrong answer.

i've converted probably seven people to the micron... and three of those sold thier microkorg to get it..

honestly, it's extremely simple to use, and a bunch of the presets rule.

I have a bunch of synths, and this guy is my number one.

300$ is a deal.

The only issues i have with them are the older models used plastic potentiometer shafts  and i broke mine off.

BUT!!!

Alesis fixed it free of charge, and had it back to me within a month. :thumb:

And the trigger pads suck, and they wear over time, thus you lose velocity and you gotta start playing it pretty hard.

6 years i've had it and i have 2 keys with bad triggers

but seriously, this thing is a breeze to program, it takes a minute to get used to the tiny ass screen you do everything on, but it's a digital synth. You're paying less to have the majority of features the ion has with less interaction.

so as you can see, i swear by it. If you can find something cooler for under 300$ like a Poly 61 (i have one it's the coolest) than go for it. Analog is always the way to go. BUT, for its price range, nothing can touch the Micron.

You can find Realistic MG-1 Concertmate's for the price... They were made for radioshack by moog in the early eighties, it's basically the same thing as the moog rogue, but you can get them for about 500$ cheaper.

i bought one off ebay once, but it arrived broken. The material they packed inside of it breaks down overtime, and the chemicals it gives off actually breaks down the circuit

so i got my money back and bought a rhodes piano instead

I once found a Moog Rogue online for like $400.

And Kaleb, buy it, if it doesn't work out I'll buy it from you. :thumb:

Yeah, I bought it. Damn, that was a good deal. And the way I see it, if I REALLY hate it, it won't be hard to sell (don't worry Cale you'll be the first one I go to :thumb: )
