Not necessarily looking for HM-2 circuits, but what can do that specific grindy thing but way louder? Even when running at the proper voltage every single HM-2 I've owned was really quiet.

The only difference in hm-2s made in Japan and Taiwan is the output I think. Which one did you try? I don't really think mine is quiet at all

Couldn't you just add a boost after the HM-2? Then you'd still have the actual HM-2 sound, but like, louder right. Before would probably be gnarly too.

I've had both MIJ and MIT and as far as I can tell they're both really quiet? As far as the boost thing goes, I already play with an always on boost pushing my amp, it's still not quite enough of a volume jump?

Put your HM-2 in a TB loop that has a post boost of its own or buy the Dunwich HM-2 because that thing is loud as all fuck...

Some boosts may drastically change HM-2's sound. I suggest an EQ pedal.

I'm sure you could find a clean boost that goes well with the HM-2, especially when placed after.

Edit: I feel like clarifying something here. When I choose to reply in the form of a question like that, it's because my suggestion might not be what OP is looking for. Not because I'm unaware of the effect which, in this case, a boost would have on an HM-2.

I'm.... just gonna say it. Metal Zone. You can sort of use the mid range freq knob to key in on the 900-1200 hz range that the HM-2's Color Mix H knob operates at.

just tell the rest of your band to turn down.

i'd just use a comp or boost before it to goose it more unless there's something about the hm-2 like certain mxr pedals that have a cap on the output section that reduces output for no reason.

HM-2 isn't loud but with everything dimed it's way over unity.
