Spring has sprung (reverb content inside)

So I was thinking of getting another rm-1n. But they're expensive, hard to find, and apparently kinda finicky. I got lucky and had a good one but life said fuck you so now I don't.

But I find myself in need of that sound again. But I was thinking of getting one with the reverb and dirt on separate switches. But then I realized I could just have 2 pedals.

I'm not looking for Godspeed in a box. I'm looking for something springy, that does that reflective almost multitap delay thing that the RM does at certain settings. You know when you palm mute and pluck and get a couple little pings almost like a weird slapback delay? That shit. But then when I play hard and kick up the gain I want thick smeared screaming waves of fuzz. You guys know what I'm talking about.

I was thinking about a multi tap delay but that shit is expensive. DBA verb always looks cool but I worry that the bright mode is too bright for the screaming fuzz smears and the dark mode is too dark for the pingy plucky things. Am I wrong?

Caroline Meteore looks like rm-1n lite but the dry tone stays clean. I don't know if I want that much separation between the dry and verb. Although if my dry tone is dirty then maybe... Anyone have any experience with this guy? Specifically running this into another dirt?

Am I overlooking anything? Any verb into dirt combos worth exploring? My main always on guy is a prototype mini ( ) with no bass control but the others are the same. It sounds more like a Fuck to me but no crackle stomp. It's fairly low gain on its own, even cranked, so it would be nice if the verb had some gain, or maybe I need a different end of chain drive?

FUCK. After being without even a guitar to play, it's stressing me out trying to figure out what I'm going to use. But this sound in particular is pretty heavily tied into my playing style.

Sorry for the rant. Sunday afternoon drinking got me thinking.

I'm a huge fan of that DBA verb even though I don't currently own it.

I also dig the Caroline Meteore, but I've never tried it with dirt. The verb side is nicely dirty though.

Wish I could offer more insight than that, lol

THis thread is super relevant to my interests. love my RM1N buuuuuuut money is tight and i barely use the dirt so been considering selling and downgrading

i thing the pingy, delayish qualities could be from being belton brick based?
i've been looking at the hungry robot stargazer

Stargazer is the shit. It's probably exactly what you're looking for.

Maybe some of the Hungry Robot verb? Maybe the Starlite?

The Pladask Romferd is worth consideration. It's got that pingy delayish thing from a PT2399. With the Smod control up high, it gets a unique kind of overdrive. It's responsive to playing dynamics for sure. Sounds great in front of a Mini.

Did you get in on that Boneshaker sale? If so, I'd recommend pairing it with a Dunk Tank to get those dirtverb sounds. It definitely has that multitap kind of sound.

I can't find a single clip of the dunk tank online but it does look pretty.

Dunk Tank uses a Belton just like the RM-1N and Reverberation Machine. It's MUCH simpler, though.
Like, it has less components than a Meathead.

I made a "clone" of the DBA with a footswitch for the two modes and a "dwell" control (which is really subtle, admittedly). The "bright" mode isn't really all that bright at all (at least, on the clone). :idk:

Here's a Dunk Tank clone I did on breadboard (I'm not sure exactly how close it is since I don't know what transistors were used in the real deal, but I'm pretty sure I've got it down): https://www.instagram.com/p/BRxHJfcjWJL/

If we're talking pre-dirt I think any Belton verb will do! Ghost Echos can be had pretty cheap. I know you like that one? I built the other guitar man in my band a Rub a Dub reverb and it does the trick going into dirt. It's as simple as it gets! Heck I'd even throw a Holy Grail into the mix. It's not the best reverb ever, but fuck if it isn't one of the best reverb pedals ever!

It is when you Baritones mod it.

This is the pedal I was actually talking about. I got confused there and said the wrong one.

This pedal is fucking awesome.

Buy a cheap holy grail and build a fuzz iinto the reverb circuit.
