Gearmongering continues. So it goes.

I've got an OG Sound Shank that I adore for them gnarly uncle acid style tones. Naturally this makes me curious about other fuzzes in the buzzaround family.

So what exactly is the Spooky Tooth? Can it cop the same grindy buzzy tones as the shank or is it a different animal all together?

I feel like they weren't the same. Spooky Tooth is more fuzzy OD-flavored, whereas I imagine Buzzarounds to be pretty ..buzzy.

They are two of my favoritest fuzzes though. Just not similar.

I like the Spooky Tooth. I really like it with the level and fuzz cranked.

I like the Ghost Dizzy Tone better.

I don't think they're that similar. The Spooky Tooth isn't in that family.

Touche. I'll probably pick up a Spooky Tooth at some point, but sounds like it wouldn't replace the Sound Shank by any means.

And the Dizzy Tone and Buzzaround fuzzes are almost the same thing, right?

I was inspired by the Black Art Toneworks Oath. (It's louder than the Oath.)

I love the graphic chank!

I had a 4 knobs Spooky Tooth... but wasn't for me.

Those graphics are all John. I just told him "no knobs and a jewel light". He took care of the rest.

The Spooky Tooth can sound much more dense, explosive, and psychedelic than a Sound Shank. It can also enter octave fuzz territory at certain texture settings, is fairly versatile overall, and cascades well into other fuzzes when in octave mode. I sold off my Sound Shank recently, and the Spooky Tooth continues to be in rotation. I prefer Buzzaround variants that are more Muff-like, e.g., the ARC Crimson King.

Dizzytones tend to be more gated and bassy than Buzzarounds.
