NPD: Earthbound Throat Locust

Throat Locust #001 came in the mail today. Mark crushed it with this one.

So far just tried it out with my home practice rig (CR120 into Sunn 4x10). Flexibility with the clipping options and sweepable mid-frequency is incredible. The old HM-2 was always under-appreciated as a normal distortion pedal, but this version really brings that out, while still keeping the gnarly heavies when dialed in right, and just sounds bigger overall. Can't wait to try it out with my actual band rigs!

I don't know what it sounds like, but hell… I want to buy one just for the name!

Earthbound/Acid Age/etc. always has a really rad twist on the pedals he tweaks. Would love clips.

Yeah that sounds fantastic! Especially about the 3rd bit in.

I guess I'm a little unsure of what you're asking. It'll definitely do non-metal, but it's still a distortion pedal. Not gonna sound like an overdrive.

Granted I haven't tried with my usual rig yet, but running it into the clean channel of the CR120 was extremely satisfying for mid to high gain, non-buzzsaw tones. But you can definitely get the Entombed goodness if you want

Fuck, I haven't gotten mine yet, I am so pumped! I got the same finish/knob combo too, lookin good. One of my favorite things to do with the original HM2 was turn the gain down and get weird filtered tones out of it. I opted for the audio taper gain pot for that reason. Did you stick with the default linear pot or get the audio taper?

Gas ignited. First HM-2 variant I'm actually interested in.

I agree, the original is pretty cool but I was never really impressed with the boutique variants other than my Anarchy Audio HM-2 (which is a faithful remake, only with true bypass).
This Throat Locust seems to definitely rock, rip and play the part.
