I really like Mascis playing and writing, a lot, but can't stand his pentatonic solos and I always skip the song as soon as I hear that pull-off.
So anything like Dino Jr minus the solos, or like these 2 bands?

Honestly i never know what to say when someone asks for something "like dinosaur jr" because thats a pretty broad spectrum. Like do you want 80s nihilist pussy noise rock or are you thinking more late 2010's cucked out ben and jerrys bmw convertible bernie sticker road trip pedocore?
