Mini pedals with expression jack?

Limited space and an empty feed off my expression splitter.

Finding very few mini pedals with expression. Rainger has some but not sure they work well with a regular expression pot.

Anything? The crazier the better.

Put a jack where the pot goes.

Is it actually as simple as hooking up t r and s to where pins 1,2,3 go on the pcb? I want to add expression control to my pn-2

It can be. Need to kinda match up the value of your exp pedal to the internal pot.

Sometimes the pot can be like 1k or 5k and the exp pedal is way to large a value and there will be very little change during the sweep.

All about just testing it. You can turn the pot down and wire up a jack (or ldr to it) and see how the exp works with the pot still in tact. Also, you could use a switching style stereo jack to go between exp and pot.

I'd test it and get used to how it works on something you don't care too much about. Old DOD are fun because they are all through whole and stuff.

It just depends on the situation.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I'd be using an Ehx 8 step with it so hopefully the depth setting on that could handle whatever resistance it needs. Adding this to my experiment list!

Pretty sure Rainger works with normal expression - you just need a 1/8-1/4 cable.
Msg him, he replies fast and detailed.

The problem with modding mini pedals is that quite a few are smd and that be some ninja level shit to mod that.

Yea, I wouldn't get in there and mess with the smd too much (it ain't that bad depending on size...But diminishing returns sometimes unless you are bending more in depth).

Pots generally are full size to a point (outside of some trims). 9mm board mount are about as tiny as you'll find. Rainger is good for inspiration: run cable and female Jacks outside el distorto style.

I remember the rainger stuff being pretty lenient with CV/exp too. Been a long time since I've had one though.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I went ahead and ordered a Rainger Air Space Invader. I'll use it for recording here and there regardless of whether it works right with the regular exp. If it works well, it will be a sweet addition to the pedalboard. Currently an empty hole and nothing normal needed. And it will have a few abnormal neighbors!
