What are your favorite tremolo pedals? I've always kind of brushed off tremolos, but I'm really interested in finding one with tap tempo.

Not really looking for anything over $150 ish.

So far I really love the Twin Peaks tremolo but I have no idea where to buy one???

Probably not what you're really looking forward, but I love the glitchy tremolo-ish sounds you can get with the Dwarfcraft Memento. The ability to tap in your rhythm, have the pedal remember it, and change the speed of the playback is really cool. There are two downsides/possible downsides to it, though. It pretty much refuses to work properly/sound good if there's any buffered pedal placed before it. I had a buffered pedal placed in a true bypass looper before it, and it still wasn't happy. Also, when using it with dirt, it works much better if placed after dirt.

Also, this statement very much applies to me as well... I would love to know if there are any other killswitch-esque tap tempo tremolos, in the vein of the Memento. I would also love a pedal similar to the Memento, but with shorting jack/static-like sounds introduced... That would be sweet! Getting off topic, sorry

Most any square wave trem with high depth setting should nail the killswitch-esque thing.
Just find one with tap tempo. Maybe Zvex Sonar?

Also, if you have something like an EHX 8-step sequencer, you can use it with a Dr Scientist Elements as a trem pedal.
I talked about a hidden trem setting in the Elements settings thread a while back viewtopic.php?f=146&t=18617&start=315#p840926

Really liked the Red Witch Pentavocal

Supa Trem

Currently using a Demeter trenulator clone I built.

TR-2 is also good.

If you mean Twin Peaks by David Rolo, go here: http://www.davidrolo.com/contact/

If you mean Twin Peaks, as in the TV show theme, it's just a baritone guitar with a fairly standard amp tremolo setting.

As far as your budget, the best trems (with TT available) are often around $249 list, which means $150-$180 in used/demo condition. The Diamond, Empress Tremolo2, and Cusack Tap-a-Whirl are 3 of the most versatile. If you're not already a dedicated tremolo user, the Empress might be the best pick---it has substantial depth, but it's also likely the most intuitive. Just select your wave and blend, then tap in your tempo, and you're set. If you didn't require TT, the Source Audio Vertigo is $149 and offers 3 classic trem settings. I've seen some other smaller builders offer TT as well, but in the $175-225 range.

I overlooked the tap tempo part. Faldoe mentioned the Supa Trem—the ST 2 has TT and is really one of the best (if not THE best) classic sounding trems if you ask me.

I'm kind of a simpleton when it comes to trem though, thus my previous nod to the TR-2.

I love the trem on my mr black deluxe plus. It does a cool thing when you run a hot signal. Gravitas was cool but somehow I flipped it without hesitation and haven't ever missed it... eqd nightwire did some cool stuff but it got harsh and lame with the hot signal (weird how this seems to be a thing in my life, never noticed until right now).

I really want to try out a twin stags and the 80tape trem, although I don't think I will end up getting either

As far as tap trems, I've owned the Cusack Tap-a-Whirl, Diamond Trem and the EHX Super Pulsar. Between the three, the Diamond would be the winner in terms of the ease of use to features ratio (and probably most able to cop a vintage trem sound), the Cusack winner in terms of total feature set, versatility and sound quality/fidelity, the EHX winner in terms of pretty lights and wackiness.

I sold the Diamond because several of my amps have great classic trem so I only used like one mode (the hard on/off), sold the Cusack because I'm gonna upgrade to the most recent version soon, still have the EHX because pretty lights.
