I have a guitar strung with these:

I'd like to string it up with either these:

or these:

Which stringset would you choose?

10's and tune it down like three steps.

Thanks, D.o.S., I should also add that it's a short scale and I'm tuned to DADGAD. :D

I'd choose Ernie Ball Regular.
Because they sound the best and are less brite than other brand.

Edit:
But... short scale... I'd go .11

Thanks, Syl, I like those Thomastik flats though. So, that's what I'm going with.

… and we're tied. :snax:

I second the Ernie Balls because I'm a brand whore. Other than that, I have no advice. :)

Is the relationship of Canadian Votes to US Votes similar to the currency exchange? :p

I think so. :idk:

Also, I'm definitely throwing Thomastiks on the guitar. Pretty confindent in that part of the decision making process. :D

I use 11-50 flats (d'addario chromes instead of Thomastik cos those are really expensive here..) for standard tuning on a 25" scale.

I think I prefer heavier gauges for flats than I do with rounds. No idea why. But i'd go with at least 11's if its a slightly down-tuned shortscale. Unless you like doing wacky bends and stuff.

Does those are kind of waxed to have a longer life?
If so I'd stay away from them.

I think Thomastiks are expensive everywhere. They last me a long time though. So, I think it evens out.

I don't think they're waxed. Flats already usually last longer than roundwounds.

I've been playing Thomastik strings for years. I like the George Bensons, but they're even more expensive. :whoa:

I was leaning towards the 11s, but still (obviously) can't decide.

For me... in regular tuning.

.10 on Fender scale type
.11 on Gibson scale type

Shorter scale... I'd go .12 maybe.

Thanks again, Syl. The guitar doesn't have a truss rod. So, I'm a little wary about going too heavy. The 11s might do it. :!!!:

Ernie ball are the worst. They don't last 10 min for me. d'Addario at least can last a week. Every b52 are about all that I use (I think .09).

Personally, I would go .10 (I'd go as light as possible with out them being frail), but I think .11 would be good.

Nah, I'm going to say .10 because that's what you have now. (I used .10s on my Silvertone sounded good to me).

Thanks, lordgalvar, the problem I'm having in deciding is that the high strings on the D'Addario set are similar gauges to the Thomastik 10s & the low strings on the D'Addario set are similar gauges to the Thomastik 11s. :?:
