2/3 Delay pedal combo suggestions

for about the last 3-4 years, my delay has been the EQD Disasters transporter snr. I love it and it does everything I would want.

but...I'm bored...and want a change...

now im thinking about replacing it...but would probably have to have 2 or 3 delay pedals to replace it, or a simple multi-delay pedal.

The issues with the multi delays is that either they are over complicated, or you can't stack delays. Also the majority have a tap tempo switch which I have no use for. So, for these reasons I'm not keen on multi's unless there is one that I'm not aware of which avoids these issues.

so which 2 or 3 pedals would you suggest? Something analog...something with some modulation...something digital with weird stuff...?

Checkout Kent's demo of the Nemesis.
It is so killer.
Ignited gas I didn't know I had, and I have an inherent distrust of oversized feature-laden delays...

My vote is the in limbo 3 plus another pedal. I'd look at like a dd7 or something digital like that. The modulation on the in limbo 3 is insane and wonderful.

Why you do this to me.

Possibly more on topic, I like the Caroline kilobyte for the pt 2399 "analogue sounding" thing. I've tried a bunch of these sorts of pedals (including a disaster transport) and I've kind of settled on the Kilobyte right now. The dirt is a nice touch and the modulation sounds really good.

Ibanez dml pedals are cool for wacky sounds but it seems like the hype has caught on and they cost a lot now..

In Limbo is crazy cool. Reeeaally great pedal.

Maybe the new affordable DM-2w? It's quite nice.

... both?
This.

Compact Limboners.
Join us.

I run mine with an RV3. It is sufficient.
When i get to stereo rigness, ill be getting a stereo in and out verb to run the two in parallel into it.
Then therell be some good times.

So what im sayin Sam, is keep the DT Snr, get a Limbo III and run them into a nemsis.
Youre still running dual amos right?

DMM+Nemesis would be ridic.
DMM+DD-7 or 5
DMM+SMMH
DMM+BitQuest

DMM is to me what the DTSR is to you. I wouldn't part with it; but rather supplement it.

I guess a digital multi thing combined with a simple analog delay is a popular combo, it just depends on how crazy you want to get, where your focus lies...

I'm liking the Nemesis + Limbo 3 suggestion, even though I haven't tried either myself. If money and board space aren't issues, you might as well go for a Moof MF1-04M + Time Factor :)

The type of cheapo approach that's enough for my needs: DE-7 + PS-3, ES-2 + RV-3, Echo Puss + DL-8, etc. Easy to afford and to squeeze on an overflowing pedalboard.

Three delay pedals are a bit overkill for me, but I allow myself a third one if it also does reverb or pitch shifting or something :)
So something like a bitquest could serve that purpose if your main delays will be Nemesis+Limbo3 or whatever similar combo :idk:

Had a kilobyte for a little while. Might be your thing, but I'm anal about how the repeats of a delay sit in a mix. The decay of the repeats wasn't spot on for me, the volume didn't decrease gradually enough, not in the musical way the repeats of a DM-3 naturally fade and form a mushy bed to play over. Hard to explain, and I'm probably just really picky

But the modulation was awesome, and so was the havoc switch, so maybe stil worth checking :idk:

The Nemesis tap tempo switch can be used as a freeze/ switch like Hold mode in some Boss delays.

The Nemesis is super powerful and totally awesome, Kent's demo displays how powerful the editor can be but that's all done via the app. That's not a knock but it may not be what you want.

If you're not going the Nemesis route then I think a Bit Quest would be good for the multi-toil factor if and only if you feel like you'll be able to explore some other modes.

In Limbo seems stellar. Super stellar.

You could always pickup Disaster Transport Jr. or even a Dispatch Master to have a baby version of the vibes you're currently copping.

What about an Echo Degrader and a Ghost Delay or Triple Flashback? 4 delays in two boxes. I love my Echo Degrader and really dig the other two. Only got rid of my Ghost Delay for a disaster transport sr that I didn't like. Now I'm rockin Echo Degrader, Tonal Recall, and a DL4. Mucho delayo. dl4 is gonna take a backseat on my grab and go board in favor of an El Capistan. I love shitty sounding delays.

Ok, so the Limbo is sick...but they are sold out.

The nemesis seems really powerful, but too techi for me...I need simple knobs and switches. I can just see myself trying to get real creative with it but then give up as it goes beyond my simple mind.

I had completely forgotten about the bitquest...that's now on the list.

The kilobyte sounds great...I really dig it...and I would have a lot of uses for that momentary switch too.

I did look into the triple flashback and functionally it does what I need...it's just that TC's I find a little bland...they don't seem to add any character to the sound...

Last night I realised I'd forgotten about the dirge multiplex delay I have, so I'm gonna mess with that abit...it's just so big!

I'll second the above emotions and say that the Nemesis has always seemed super sick to me, though I've never played one. I plan on picking one up sometime this year. The Strymon Dig is pretty fantastic sounding as well, but the Nemesis seems to do everything it does better, or at least to my ears. Only downside: maybe not as easy to flip if you wanna, seeing that P&W guys are practically waiting in line to snatch up any Strymon shit you have on Clist

On a more simplistic note, I haven't found much use for tap tempo either, so the Ct5 has been wonderful for me as a sort of primitive, weirdo delay. I keep mine in Mode 1 most of the time... I've often wondered if anybody else loves it for that kind of stuff as much as I do.

For super classic lervly boner delayz I think the AD9 can't be beat. The pro has modulation, but my OG has never left me wanting more.

Ok...so I think as some have suggested, I'll keep the disaster Snr, and add something else to the mix.

In the context I can either set the Disaster Snr modulation to do weird stuff and get a clean standard delay, and it could be a digital or analog. Or set my Disaster Snr to clean Delay with little to no modulation, and get something like a ;
- kilobyte
- inlimbo
- bitquest
- something else

I'm really digging the Avalanche Run. I'm just starting to dig more into the reverb side and it's really a fun pedal. At first I was a little underwhelmed, but it's very versatile, really easy to use and can cover for delay, reverb, or just instant ambience. My only gripe is the lack of modulation, but I plan on fixing that by adding in an In Limbo III when stock and money line up.

Edit: I will definitely be buying an In Limbo III when funds allow.

Kilobyte is fucking killer.
Meet Maude can do the most beautiful washy stuff, and also weird, but it is dark.
With the BQ you can do subtle mod, wacky shit, or logo crud by using the fuzz side.
